Heavy Petty started as a Halloween costume in 2006. The previous Halloween we'd covered Zumpano, which went over like a lead balloon. We learned that if we're gonna be a cover band, we should pick a band that everyone knows so the crickets aren't chirping after each song. We planned to play a 30 minute set of Petty that night and that was supposed to be it. We soon discovered that people love some damn Tom Petty and we keep getting asked to play shows. Our game plan is to pretty much play whenever we're asked to, assuming all of the members are available.
