"A champion is one who gets up when he can't." — Jack Dempsey
Heavyweight Champion was formed in August 1998. The band sold over 1000 copies of their first independently financed EP 'The houseband' and were selected as unsigned band of the week on the London radio station XFM. Their second EP 'That's how she woke up' which sold equally well was regularly featured on Bob Geldof's drive-time programme on the same radio station.
The group then released their album "Mighty" back in 2000 on Hurrah Records. They completed a tour of the UK to promote the album and their singles, all which received regular plays on local and national radio stations.
They also performed live for XFM and other radio stations and were reviewed as best live band in Melody Maker.
They have currently spent the last 5 years rehearsing and recording with producer Pat Collier. They have financed the entire project by themselves and their new album is complete.
***GOOD NEWS*** Our Album "Mighty" and a few CD Singles still available on www.amazon.co.uk with Independent record distributors!
