Johnny Rotten better watch his back, because the Amargos are here to steal the title of the punk posers! Punk? And who said that rebels can’t talk about cute and colorful stuff? Oh yeah, being a part of the new age of punk rock, the band Hebe e os Amargos promises a fun time from the beginning to the end, with simple riffs, teenage lyrics and choruses that will stick to your head just like gum (words from people who saw and approved). The band, which is directly influenced by bands like Ramones and Toy Dolls, have a funny and irreverent sense of humor, walking away a little bit from bands of the same style, resulting on what was best to call “Bubblegum”, thanks to their easy going melodies, almost babyish. On their lyrics, always teenage themes like beer nights and the most popular girls at school, with their hit “Mamãe curte Ramones” (“My mother likes Ramones”), a song about the bassist mother, who really likes The Ramones and which just pretty much translates the party they make on the stage. Speaking of stages, that’s where they really step out! With all the energy captured by all the punk rock shows along the years, they make a spectacle which relies on the Henrique Amargo’s hyperactivity, playing bass guitar and vocals, the pleasant melody and irreverence of Zé Netto on the guitar and vocals, marked by the accurate drums of Mamuty. The band is now two years old and is on it’s third formation, having released a virtual EP, (with the same name of the single “Mamãe Curte Ramones”) and a video of the same song. The band has played on some of the most important festivals in the city of Belém, like “Fabrikaos” and “Se Rasgum no Rock”, along with radio shows on the stations “Cultura” and “Jovem Pan”. It was included on a collection from São Paulo called “Street Music Vol. 5” with bands like “Gritando HC” and Aditive.
