Hector Mann Music Crew (film music)

Bio:

Hector Mann Music Crew is a trio (piano, guitar and double bass) from Italy dedicated to film music. In August 2006 it has won the first price in the “Young European Musicians Competition” as part of the fifth edition of the International Festival of Live Music for Silent Movies Strade del Cinema (held in Aosta, Italy), because of the “freshness, the intelligent use of timbre and the great empathy with the character of Harold Lloyd”.

Although the musicians of Hector Mann Music Crew play together in different groups in various musical fields, the trio was created on purpose to participate at the festival. As one of the ten finalists (selected out of 140 participating groups from Italy, Belgium, France and Switzerland) they accompanied the film Haunted Spooks (USA, 1920) at the Roman theatre of Aosta. The jury of the festival, which was dedicated to Harold Lloyd, was formed by Michael Ismeni, Christian Thomas, Enrico Montrosset (festival director) and Ezio Bosso, well known composer of the soundtrack of the film “Io non ho paura” by Gabriele Salvatores.

Hector Mann Music Crew has been commissioned by the National Museum of Cinema in Turin to compose music for the early Italian silent movie La Meridiana del Convento (1916) by Eleuterio Rodolfi, which was performed in Palermo for Curva Minore and in the museum itself in march 2007. Other performances are planned in Aosta and Luik (Belgium).

Hector Mann Music Crew per "la freschezza, l'intelligente uso dei timbri e la grande empatia con il personaggio di Harold Lloyd" è il vincitore assoluto del "Concorso Giovani Musicisti Europei" inserito all'interno della quinta edizione del Festival Internazionale del Cinema Muto musicato dal vivo Strade del Cinema che si è tenuto dal 3 al 12 agosto 2006 ad Aosta e che aveva come tema una retrospettiva sull'attore comico Harold Lloyd.

Il trio, nato in occasione della partecipazione al festival ha sonorizzato il film Haunted Spooks (USA, 1920) con Harold Lloyd al Teatro Romano di Aosta. Alla fase finale del concorso partecipavano 10 finalisti (da Italia, Francia, Svizzera e Belgio) selezionati tra quasi 140 concorrenti durante precedenti selezioni tenute ad Aosta, Firenze, Liegi e Palermo. La giuria del concorso era formata da Michael Ismeni, Christian Thomas, Enrico Montrosset, direttore del festival e anche da Ezio Bosso, compositore noto per la musica del film Io non ho paura di Gabriele Salvatores.

Per il 2007 e' stata commissionata la sonorizzazione del film muto La Meridiana del Convento (Italia, 1916) di Eleuterio Rodolfi, messo a disposizione dal Museo Nazionale del Cinema di Torino , che verrà eseguita dal vivo a Palermo in prima esecuzione assoluta per Curva Minore,Torino, Liegi ed Aosta.
