Bio:
Celtic-Folk-Rock band Hedgepig are firmly rooted in the 'rocking up' of traditional folk; songs deftly shared between their Scottish and English lead vocalists, and tunes driven by duelling fiddles, alto sax and whistles, over a solid back line of bass and percussion, “They can play their instruments, sing rather well, and they certainly are FHL [Faster, Harder, Louder]...if you like your music with a not terribly trad attitude, lots of verve, and a bit of percussion done loud,” (Green Man Review).Legends on the Cambridge pub circuit, including Cambridge Folk Club, they also pop up at various UK summer festivals, and have twice pre-headlined at their local Ely Folk Festival. “Rounded up and lashed into action by the very wonderful Rosie Eade, Hedgepig booted bum at the Vic last year … Great fun” (Burnham-On-Sea Folk Festival).
Their new album 'Over The Forth' returns to the band's Scottish roots, while still holding on to some of the darker folk themes found in their previous album "Third Rock", and again including original contributions from the "Folk Pixie" herself, Rosie Eade. “Its obvious they are the finest the genre has to offer in the area - fans of Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span would do well to get themselves a copy,” (Cambridge Evening News), though Rosie's vocals are likened to Grace Slick and Stevie Nicks as often as to Maddy Prior.
The current line up is Steve White on vocals and guitar, Mark Lemon on fiddle and vocals, Rosie Eade on vocals, saxophone and whistles, Jim Gair on bass, David Hicks on drums, djembe, bodhran and violin and Steve Matthews on mandolin and bodhran.

Sounds Like
A gathering of like-minded exponents of reinterpreting the tradition, who have a shared ecletic and electric/rock background who are rediscovering their love of the natural sound of the wood & the wire, the skin and the reed. Pretentious?! Moi??!...

10 of 47More...as many of you may know, Hedgepig was born under the watchful eye of a fantastic little pub in Cambridge called the St. Radegund on King Street. This month, Sat. 29th September (9pm), Hedgepig will be raising a glass to Terry "Bunter" Kavanagh (1937-2012), who was landlord between 1992 and 2009 and watched Hedgepig grow from young beer drinking musicians to rather less young but still beer drinking musicians. Bring your voices, your instruments and your memories and join Hedgepig for an evening of music and right fine ale .

Hiya Hedgepig!
I've recently made my new album-"Mind Set".
There's 7 tracks from it up on my myspace player!
God Bless,
Tim.
After you've finished here, you may like to hear this poem, & some songs, on myspace...
Poem 187 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse
(see my blog for details): A SOUTH SHIELDS WALKABOUT - AUTUMN 2001
Out of the museum-and-gallery
(Wiser on Cookson and the local way),
Down Ocean Road with, to the right of me,
Its eateries and, left, neat places to stay;
Before, on either side, Marine Parks -
The southern-one a most beautiful place,
Teeming with moorhens, swans, grebes and mallards
In a small lake at a scenic-hill’s base.
Then (holding chips from the parade’s cafe
And, thus, a flock of gulls squawking above)
Onto the South Pier I made my way:
Seeing seaweed over rocks - like a glove -
And high-and-dry sands held from transgression
By growth of grass and the weaving of wood,
Plus, in the dim light of a sleepy sun,
Fishing boats returning to Tynemouth’s hood.
