Celtic-Folk-Rock band Hedgepig are firmly rooted in the 'rocking up' of traditional folk. “They can play their instruments, sing rather well, and they certainly are FHL [Faster, Harder, Louder]...if you like your music with a not terribly trad attitude, lots of verve, and a bit of percussion done loud,” (Green Man Review).
Released in May 2006, their album “Third Rock” reveals an electrifying move towards the darker side of folk, while bringing the band closer to the singer-songwriter spirit of the 21st century. “Its obvious they are the finest the genre has to offer in the area - fans of Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span would do well to get themselves a copy,” (Cambridge Evening News), though Rosie's vocals are likened to Grace Slick and Stevie Nicks as often as to Maddy Prior.
Hedgepig was formed in 1993 by 'Frayed Knot' boys Steve White and Steve Matthews; swiftly joined by Mark Lemon (of 'Pagan Billy'). Described as “local favourites” by the melodytrip, they have since rocked their way through virtually every pub in Cambridge and regularly pop up at summer festivals around East Anglia.

All the best to all you guys and with the good grace of the Gods of fortune I'll hopefully catch up with you at the Belper festival. It's on my calendar, but my calendar seems to have a wayward nature of it's own at the minute.
The fact that you guys enjoy doing what you're doing really shines through.
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.

Hello again,
Without trying to sound too forward, I'd like to reccommend to you Cruachan's 'Folk-Lore' album. They are well known in the metal community, which though odd, as it is a 'folk/rock' album, is well justified as it is frankly marevllous! Prehaps as part of a music artists' education, I would reccomend you purchase and listen to this album. I feel you would very much enjoy, and prehaps even benefit from this release, as it's sound is expansive and similar to the work you are doing, and prehaps could provide direction for you.
Sorry to post it this on your Myspace page, but I really feel it's an important release and I felt very enthusiastic when Rosie posted on my page.
Many thanks, and keep the good work up!
