Cowboy poet, Jessica Hedges, grew up ranching. She spend most of her childhood on a 450 thousand acre cattle and hay operation in northeastern Nevada, learning about cows, land, and people. She writes about her experiences, and of those close to her, all wrapped up with a windy or two.
Jessica started writing cowboy poetry as a kid after attending the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering in Elko, NV for years. That is where she got her first start, doing open mic nights at Sherman Station or upstairs at the Stockman’s. She took a break for a while as she got through high school and into college.
Jessica has since become not only the daughter of a cowboy, but now a wife. She lives with her husband, Sam, in Coulee City, WA on a ranch that he works for. She continues to write and tries to get out and perform more as well. Most recently she performed in Ellensburg, WA at the Spirit of the West, Lewiston, ID at the Lee Earl Memorial Gathering, and has several other venues lined up for this spring.
