PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket WHERE: Heebee Jeebees 318a East Colorado Avenue Colorado Springs, CO 80903 719-635-0620 Heebee JeebeeS, located at 318A E. Colorado Ave. is pleased to announce their next exciting exhibition “A Hot Mess” a group show including local artists Suzanne Broshous, Kathy Callaway, and Sally Piette. Suzanne Broshous uses abstract expressionism and mixed media, (paint, joint compound and found objects), to meld imagery through the use of undulating texture and color. Suzanne Broshous embraces the feminine. Each layer painted on the canvas becomes the history of the surface, creating layer upon layer of new nuances. Gestating off the canvas like cells growing within your body, Broshous’ paintings explode with organic metaphors. Sally Piette states, “Art is my everything. Since I was born I’ve been actively exploring my creativity through painting, sculpture, and questioning the world and its people. I love the power of being able to create something from nothing. Sometimes when I feel a creation coming on, it overwhelms me. Releasing it is like taking a giant poop: it happens so quickly once I sit down and despite there always needing to be clean up; I'm always very satisfied.” Kathy Callaway has included vibrant watercolor paintings for this eccletic group showing. The opening reception is on first Friday June 5th from 5pm to 9pm. Open and free to the public. The exhibition will run June 5th thru July 25th. Heebee JeeBeeS is open everyday noon to 6pm.

Who I'd like to meet:

Fellow artists, tattoo collectors, freaks, oddballs and all of the disenfranchised and unusual people that make life worth living. All the freaky people make the beauty of the world.
