THE ARTIST
Heidi has made the statement above on stage to thousands of people many times over the last few years, and it’s true. Heidi is passionate about the people in her life. Much of her new CD, ‘Tell Me Who I Am Again’, reflects that as the songs and lyrics were often inspired by the struggles and successes of the people around her as well as her own experiences. Heidi has lived in Minneapolis, MN her whole life and began playing guitar, singing and performing around the state at a young age. She recorded her first CD, ‘Welcome Home’ in Portland, OR in 2004 when she was 18 years old. When she started college later that year, she put together a band and began performing live regularly. In 2006 she was signed to Speed of Sound Records and recorded a concert at Club 3 Degrees in downtown Minneapolis releasing ‘The Live Record’ EP soon after.
THE NEW ALBUM
Now with the release of her second full-length CD Heidi has developed a sound unique to only her. “Heidi spends a lot of time making sure the lyrics and melodies in her music serve the songs the best they can” says her producer, Adam V. Johnson. “She is a good songwriter and good songwriters are very hard to come by plus she writes ‘outside of the box’” he adds. ‘Tell Me Who I Am Again’ has Heidi’s musical fingerprints all over it – big alternative rock songs and simple yet beautiful acoustic pieces. “We wanted to maintain a very organic sound with this new record” states Matt Beckstrom who engineered and mixed the whole project, “It was important to leave room for the vocal melodies and harmonies to breathe throughout all the songs.” The result is a great sounding project that is not overly produced and sterile.
“We were very fortunate to track with some amazing musicians and fantastic instruments on this record” says Heidi. Popular local artist Elizabeth Hunnicutt appears on three different tracks adding some textured vocal parts. “When Matt showed me the initial mixes of Heidi and Liz’s vocals I couldn’t wait for the album to hit the public” says Adam. Other local artists appearing on the record are bassist Dan Ostebo from the band Mainstay (BEC Recordings) Eric “Bunny” Benson on drums and Jaymi Holt, Heidi’s sister, even sings on one track. There’s an eclectic mix of instruments and styles on the new record that includes e-bow, mandolin, lush string arrangements, vintage Hammond organ, and a variety of percussion instruments. “This was a really big, but really fun project” Heidi states while smiling.
THE SONGS
The first song “Breathe” opens the new CD with a single breath and ends with a big full-band chorus. Then the single, “Still Yours” develops with a rich mixture of vocal melodies, instrumentation and a chorus that stays with the listener. The next single, “Victory”, enters with huge guitars and driving choruses into a climactic ending. Some of the most unique tracks on the disc are a big departure from any of the other sounds typically found in mainstream music. “Judgment (two)” and “Lies” are perfect examples, as each song sounds completely different and totally unique. String arrangements and unusual but interesting harmonies along with poetically written lyrics make these songs standout. Heidi continues to surprise the listener with a few simply beautiful acoustic songs such as “My Exodus” using just acoustic guitars and her voice with all falsetto choruses.
“People have been waiting a long time for this new record,” says Heidi, “and it is worth the wait. I’m very proud of the result.”

There is currently a search for two types of bands for record label consideration.
*** Note: PLEASE IDENTIFY IF YOU ARE IN GROUP 1 OR 2 IN THE SUBJECT LINE OF YOUR RESPONSE. Emails are being reviewed by different representatives.
1. A Pop/Rock/Commercial band with female lead. Band must consist of 2 guitars (Prefer both guitar players to be of lead caliber. However, one lead and one rhythm is acceptable), keyboard/piano, bass, and drums. Lead vocal, followed by backing vocals, in that order, is a plus as it relates to other members of the group. Average age of the band cannot exceed 28 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
2. A Modern Rock band with male lead. Must be a complete band but there are no prerequisites as it relates to the make up of the band. Average age of the band cannot exceed 23 years of age.
* Group must have an outstanding lead vocalist. ** Musicianship throughout the entire band must be very strong. *** Group cannot currently be under any contract of any type that is related to the music industry.
