The story of this album: Most of these songs were written in India. It all started when I arrived in Varanasi with a round-the-world ticket in 1994, and decided to take a few yoga lessons. I was introduced to “Guruji” (Yogi Prakash Shankar Vyas), and although he looked perfectly ordinary, the peace and love which I felt in his presence were indescribable and beautiful. It was only later that I learned Guruji was a householder Yogi who had been authorised to initiate the holy science of Kriya Yoga by Sri Satya Charan Lahiri (the grandson of Mahayogi Lahiri Mahasaya) to spiritual seekers. At that point, I knew almost nothing about yoga, let alone about Kriya. However, with hardly a word exchanged, by the end of one week of Hatha Yoga lessons with Guruji, it felt as if an elusive search was finally over. Although I went on to Thailand, the desire to travel the world had lost its gloss. Guruji clearly already held the key to true peace and I wanted nothing more than to continue learning yoga and meditation under his guidance. As a result, I returned to India and ended up spending almost three years there. My inner world, not to mention my focus in song writing, completely changed as a result of Kriya Yoga. It was a wellspring of fresh inspiration. However, after I returned home, my focus on musical creativity was redirected for almost a decade. Guruji had authorised me to write a book about his lineage of spiritual masters, and to weave in my own experiences as a beginner on the path of original Kriya Yoga. (see www.kriyasource.com) The book took six years to write, and these were also my years of early motherhood. As creative expressions of my own spiritual journey, I published the lyrics of twelve of the “India” songs now recorded on this album at the end of each chapter. But the book felt incomplete, since lyrics are meant to be listened to, not just read. Soon after writing, “You are the One” (bonus track) at home in Switzerland in 2006, a catalytic year of moving countries began for our family – and it culminated with the long-cherished desire of an album to go with the book finally becoming reality in the summer of 2007. It happened with incredible synchronicity at a time when Guruji could be a part of the album. It has been an extraordinary blessing, and the happy event of its release marks the start of a new life for our family in Australia.
"The peace and love in Guruji’s voice on India Dreaming makes you want to be right there beside him. I love India Dreaming – Heidi’s voice is angelic and it’s a gift to listen, and the whole atmosphere of the CD sends high vibrations and love. I was touched by the true feelings; you can tell it comes right from Heidi’s spirit. God has given Heidi a great gift.

'Enchanting, magical and spiritual' are words that come to mind which describe this CD in a nutshell. India dreaming is a beautiful and powerful expression of the 'heart and its essence' felt through music. It is a reminder that there is more to know about ourselves and this life, than meets the eye! A colourful, musical celebration of the beauty around us (which we see if we are willing to open our eyes), while lyrics softly speak of our own innate beauty within. Heidi Wyder has a clear, fresh, angel-like voice, especially exquisite on track 4, itself entitled 'My Angel', in which lush string harmonies support the vocal line as it lightly soars above. The lyrics throughout are sung with true heart-felt emotion. Alongside its Indian theme, the CD features some words of wisdom on tracks 1, 7 & 12 from Yogi Prakash Shankar Vyas, a Kriya Yoga Spiritual Master. Other tracks have a further touch of 'spice' using Indian instruments such as Sitar, Shruti and Tabla, helping to conjure up India in the imagination. Wyder's poetic lyrics have a positive, uplifting message, touching our very core and inspiring us to reach out to find a higher purpose. This CD breathes a continuous sense of harmony and peace, being musical food for our soul!
