Akiba "Hekuba" Thomas was born in Akron, OH. She was raised in Canton, but has a host of relatives here in Akron. By the age of 6, she was seen in the community a lot for her ability to recite poetry, speeches and prayers. As she grew older, she became more interested in writing her own poetry to help release the things that she encountered or witnessed while attending Canton McKinley Senior High School and beyond. She has successfully completed one year of college at Wilbeforce University.
Hekuba is now living with her fiance Donte "Xcursion" Feaster in Akron, OH. She has continued her interest in poetry, and has now decided to share her views on life with others. Her first album No Secrets, No Lies is anticipated to be released soon. It is produced mostly by Xcursion, and it will also feature him on some of her songs.
Today story is "When atheistic communism was a world-menacing power,it proclaimed that there is no God and that faith in any future life deceptive illusion.Leonid Brezhnev had been the Soviet dicator, the embodient of Marxist unbelie. But something happened at his funeral that contradicted atheism.George H.W. Bush, then vice president of US,was the country's official representative at the solemn, formal ceremony. He reported that while the casket was still open,Brehznev's widow stared motionless at her husband's body. And just before the soldiers were about to close the lid,she reached inside and made the sign of the cross over his chest. What a desperate and significant gesture! That widow evidently hoped that what her husband had vehemently denied might somehow be true.Thankfully,we can have hope beyond this earthly life! All we need to is embrace by faith the saving message of the cross:Jesus died for our sins and rose again so that might live eternally with Him.Do you believe? Then join with the apostle Paul in affirming that "we trust in the living God,who is the Savior of all men, especially of those who believe"(1 Tim4vs10).Galatians 6vs14 "God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ".Calvary's cross is the only bridge to eternal life.
Merry Christmas... Thank you for your friendship. May God bless you in all your endeavors. Giving praise thru songs, gospel hip hop. Come an praise with me. Stay blessed and highly favored.
To God be the glory...the HolyGhost has led me to share another blog. Its actually two this time, but these are more or less my testimonies. Yeah...im cleaning out my closet. Both of these blogs will hopefully draw u closer to Jesus, cause u to repent of any sins you may have committed against God and seek him even more. Can i tell u a lil sumin rite now tho...i stayed in sin until the point i thought i was gonna die, but God sent me an inspirational word of hope bye way of blog from my big sis in christ, so with that being said I really hope u can find some time to ck these out. Oh and if ur in the choir, a musician,or hold any position in the church, i really really want u to swing bye. Its a sad thing to be in church and still be goin to hell. To God be all the Glory. Much love to ya!
ps If i dnt talk to you again have a Blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year. Im gonna be fasting from myspace for the last 7 days of the year(thats gonna hurt lol) along with a few days of no food. Remember...Jesus is the reason for every season! Be encouraged!
At this time of year. There is so much hypocrisy and falseness. Phoniness runs ahead and greets that which is not prepared. Unseen forces abound in relative obstruction and the flare for the hypertensive magnitude of the common, sit on many a door step. And through it all, there is God! The same now, then and always. He stands with open arms and ears, His heart full of passion and compassion. For some of us, this season is a tough one. We do things we don't want to do and wish to do things we cannot. Sometimes change can be an exhilarating part of life. Sometimes change is hard. We can resist change, get angry at it. We can feel ashamed of it or be afraid of it. We tell ourselves "It's to tough, I can't do it!" But i believe that change is a very necessary part of life. Especially when it comes to being "Born Again". Given a new chance at life. No longer do we live in bondage to our addictions and bad habits. We need no longer run in fear of relationships. We don't have to live as though we were responsible for the world! We can learn serenity, contentment and find freedom from the lake of fire. We can experience love and share it! Our capacity to change is the key to our hope. God has given us thee ability to change and grow. He calls us to change. He gives us the perspectives and disciplines and encouragements we need. They can come from many places. As we HAVE allowed and invited Him in, God Himself now strengthens us. He works within to heal us and make us new. I wish you a new-renewed you, full of strength, compassion, gratitude and Spirit!
Akiba, know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God comfort and strengthen you all at this difficult time. Sorry to hear of the loss of your uncle.
as i soar, God is both in front and in rear, He shows me the places that once were and the now and never, as i cry, i am unsure the difference between joy and sorrow, until He takes me to the land of the forgotten, where i see myself...unborn!
Today story is "Delivery The Dirt". Christian industrialist and inventor R.G. LeTourneau is known for his enormous earth-moving machines. One of his products was known simply by the name,"Model G".A prospective prospective buyer, hoping to stump a salesman, asked,"What does the G' stand for?"I guess the G stands for gossip",was the salesman's quick reply."Because, like gossip, this machine moves a lot of dirt, and moves it fast! The Proverbs have a lot to say about gossip:Those who gossip are untrustworthy (11;13) and should avoided (20;19).Gossip separates the closest of friends (16;28) and keep relational strife boiling(18;8).It pours fuel on the coals of conflict, feeding the flames of hurt and misunderstanding(26;21-22).The Hebrew word for "gossip" and talebearing" actually means "whispering that is damaging".We fool ourselves into thinking that those juicy, whispered comments here and there are harmless. But gossip leaves behind a wide swath of destruction and is never a victimless crime.Someone is always hurt.So here's a word to say to the wise:"Where there is no talebarer, strife ceases"(Prov26;20).Let's leave the dirt-moving to big machines.Put the shovels away and revel in the joy of gossip-free relationships!Destroy gossip by ignoring it.
Today story is "Loved Well".We were gathered with family for Thanksgiving dinner when someone asked if each person would share what he or she was thankful for.One by one we talked.Three-year old Joshua was thankful for "music",and Nathan, aged 4,"horses".We were all silenced, though when Stephen(who was soon to turn 5)answered,"I'm thankful that Jesus loves me so "well".In his simple faith,he understood and was grateful for the love Jesus for him personally. He told us that Jesus showed His love by dying on a cross. The apostle Paul wanted the believers in the church at Ephesus to understand how well God loved them, and that was his prayer:"That they would be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height-to know the love of Christ"(Eph3vs17-19).He prayed that they would be rooted and grounded in that love.To ground ourselves in God's love,it would be helpful to review these verses frequently or even memorize them.We can also take a few minutes each day to thank the Lord for the specific ways He shows us his love to us.This will help us to grow in our belief and thankful-as Stephen is-that Jesus us "so well".To renew your love for Christ, review Christ's love for you.
Today story is "Confession And Thanksgiving". During a Sunday worship service, our congregation in unison:"Gracious God,like many believers before us,we complain when things do not go our way.We want abundance of everything rather than what is sufficient to sustain us.We would rather be elsewhere than where we are at the moment. We would rather have the gifts you give to others than what You provide for us.We would rather have You serve us than serve You.Forgive our lack of gratitude for what You give".Abundance is no guarantee of gratefulness or thanksgiving.Posperity may even turn our hearts away from the Lord. When a group of Jewish exiles returned from Babylon with Nehemiah to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem, they gathered to confess their sins and those of their fathers. They prayed:"Neither our kings nor our princes, our priests nor our fathers, have kept Your law....For they have not served You in their kingdom,or in the many good things that You gave them,or in the many good things that You gave them,or in the large and rich land which You set before them, nor did they turn from their wicked works"(Neh9vs34-35).Confession is a powerful prelude to a prayer of thanksgiving.Obedience is the Amen.Confession opens the door to thanksgiving.
Shouldn't every day be a celebration?Another day that the Lord has mercifully allowed, in the hope of saving even just a few more souls. How about this so called "Thanksgiving?" Is it about pilgrims and Indians? Turkeys? Family? The word itself reminds me of what I do everyday. Each time I wake up from sleep I give thanks. Each time I come home from anywhere including work or the store I give thanks. Each time I indulge in a meal I give thanks. Each time I receive grace I give thanks. Each time I perceive love I give thanks. In my opinion, mankind needs to really begin to take a long good look around. The world just ain't that complicated. Can technology stop a tornado? Those who know truth should speak it. Samuel Johnson stated this "Unless a man has courage, he has no security for preserving any other virtue." Courage is the basic virtue. Of what use is wisdom if you don't have the courage to act wisely? Of what value is love if you don't have the courage to love?Of what value is truth is you don't have the courage to speak it? Of what consequence is faith without the courage to embrace it? God is real!
