My main interest in life was the founding of the Theosophical Society with the help of my good friend Henry Steel Olcott. In that organisation we worked towards finding the underlying wisdon in all religions, philosophy and even sciences. In my books my interests shine through:

religion, parapsychology, spirituality, occultism, theosophy, wisdom, human rights, Christianity, Buddhism, Yoga, Brahma Vidya, Hinduism and Kabala.

About me:
I was a flamboyant smoker, writer, conversationalist. A Russian by birth, I spoke French, Russian and English and wrote in these three languages. The majority of my writings were in English. Though I was a public defender and popularizer of Eastern Religion and theosophy in general, I publicly proclaimed myself a Buddhist when I took Pansil (the five Buddhist precepts) in Ceylon.

The intuitive wisdom mind is that of a deeper level of being. Normally, we feel that we are only the thinking mind and give it undue attention, investing it with all of reality. But all of reality is not perceived at the thinking level of mind. We're always getting subtle input wich we call intuition from the wisdom mind. We experience a deeper knowing. If the rational mind has no label for the subtler message, it has a tendency to discredit it. It disallows what it can't label. However, the rational mind can't label everything because it's not everything. The insights that arise in the wisdom mind are often experienced as sudden, wordless understandings of how things are. This level of mind is not as dependent on the kind of "knowing" which traps reality in concepts and words. It can experience simply being. Stephen Levine, A Gradual Awakening.

Enlightenment isn't enlightenment. Enlightenment is a word. One of the things that blocks us from whatever this enlightenment might be is our hunger for what we imagine en-light-enment to be. Enlightenment can become our greatest cause of suffering, because it's our greatest longing. It's our greatest "being elswhere," our greatest vacume. Rather than calling it "sin," it can be seen simply as an obstacle to understanding witch attracts the attention, causing identification, and distracts us from an even-minded awareness of the flow.
