"When painting a portrait, it's like looking inside a person and trying to capture their inner being on a canvas. Usually that is accomplished in the final stages of painting, when I concentrate on the smallest of details. I think the small things; the tiniest details create the magic.
I love to create portraits because in a way, it's like stopping time and preserving that fraction of time, a moment on canvas or film forever. And there's not a better feeling than to watch someone to see their portrait for the first time and see the emotions dipslayed on their face.
In regards to my technique, with oil painting, as I mentioned earlier, I like to concentrate on the smallest details. With hand painted photography, it's also about creating an effect I call half paintings/ half photographs. An image which is hard to identify whether it's a painting or a photograph. It's a medium, I'd like to explore more in future."
Hi Helena, Oh that's good you're busy with a new piece of work. I've seen you're amazing photo's as well. I too have been really getting involved with photography lately. I find it so peaceful and beautiful. I'm still doing what I enjoy the most as well, digital artwork and have been taking classes with adobe lately. Have a great evening hun, missed speaking you.
Hi Helena! I maybe write this to you before, but hey..if so.. I'm saying it again!
I just want to tell you how much I admire and adore your artwork. I'm not really a art-interested person, but your work makes me look many hours at the same picture! LOVE your Michael Jackson art work the most (not wierd, since I'm a mj fan!" But hey! Once again: I am a big fan of you! Love from Irlin "Baggy"
