As one half of the acoustic duo, Amalthea, Helen Andrews performs on the local folk scene (in southern England) and has released an EP and an album. (For more details on Amalthea, visit www.amaltheamusic.com)
As a solo artist she has performed with Pete Best (The Beatles) and Ian Anderson (Jethro Tull). Says Anderson, who asked her to perform her song, "You and the Summer" with him on stage in 2003, "she weaves an autobiographical spell of sensitive, sensual mystery".
Her debut solo album, Wishing for the Moon, was released this Easter. It features eleven original tracks, all composed by Helen.

Helen, I don't know what you mean? I'm completely innocent, it's No. 3 who is stirring it! That picture of you is so lovely, gotta be on my favourite Island that we'll be back to in October?
Good to have you as a friend! So great to see the internet in action this way, shortening distances between people.

Big gig for Rusty Strings coming up... We're playing at The Wedgewood Rooms in Southsea on Wednesday 8th July. It's a battle of the bands with a chance to win recording, etc. It's decided by judges and audience votes so we need as many people there as possible to help us out. Doors are at 8pm and we're on second. Tickets cost £5 and if you give us a message we can sort out dropping one off to you. Hope you can make it :)
All is well, I've started a new night at the Soul Cellar in Southampton playing CDs by unsigned musicians. I'll give you a spin soon. This Monday night is a Saints Aid preview so it is mainly Southampton bands. There is more info here: http://www.xan.co.uk/2009/05/saints_aid/
