Sir Richard Blu - drums and vocals
The Bure - guitar and vocals
Helene’s Mates. Amazing duo since 2006. “Helene’s Mates” is Sir Richard Blu, drummer and singer, and the bure, guitarist and singer. They are influenced by all those artists and bands that made the Sixties the Golden Era of pop such as, The Kinks, the Small Faces, the Yardbirds, the Rolling Stones and also the Beach Boys, the Byrds, Bob Dylan and Neil Young.
They listen to different kinds of music, too (Sir Richard is a records collector) trying to incorporate and mix them into their sound and perform a weird kind of beat. They have played a lot of venues: they won the local contest, That’s Life Festival 2007; they performed the opening act for the Dropkick Murphys at Libra Festival 2007; they won Stati Generali del Rock 2008 in Turin; they were at Italia Wave Love Festival 2008; they took part in Spaziale Emersione Festival 2008 at Spazio 211 in Turin. And they want to play more! However, wherever, whenever! That’s why Helene’s Mates needs a great booking agency.
In 2007 they recorded a demo tape containing their first songs like “We are not the beatles” and “Blah blah blah yeah yeah yeah”. Less than one year later as The Dance Dance Dance they came back to the studio to record “In blank”, featuring Andrea Manzoni, pianist from the Italian pop combo Lomé. In August of 2008 Vieri Brini and Emanuele Policante shot the first Helene’s Mates low-budget video for the song “Satan has a strange haircut”.
In the current year they recorded six songs for the soundtrack of Bruno Miotto’s “The day the music died”, a movie inspired on the life and music of Buddy Holly; and Linea d'Aria a small local publishing company released Notti di luna vuota/Empty moon night: their work with the poet Lele Ghisio, a mix of reading and music, with the collaboration of two other artists, Damiano Andreotti, photographer, and Luca Rimini, graphic designer.
