*******here's a video some sweet other someone (thank you whoever you are!) made in Barcelona last summer (dotze de juliol '07 - 07/12/07)- so you can judge for yourself....the song is called "Silly" . Enjoy!
Live and on records, Hélène's music oscillates between gentle folk, British-influenced pop, and compositions that come closer to a song-poem. Listen and you will be met by a unique harmonic flair, poetic lyrics, and melodies that have been compared to "a paintbrush on figure skates" for their beautiful shapes – all delivered in an accomplished, yet heartrending French accented voice. Following the self-released 2005 ‘Perfection's somewhere near your bones’, a new album is soon to see the light of day. This collection of songs, titled ‘The Deer Convention’ after one of the songs, showcases Hélène’s songcraft at its best while marking a new era in collaboration for the singer-songwriter: recorded by Jason Quever of Papercuts, it boasts contributions by Jasmyn Wong and Donovan Quinn of the Skygreen Leopards, long time collaborator Matt Montgomery, Mr. Quever himself, as well as members of the Mumlers. A split 7'' with Emily Scott will come out on Autumn Ferment Records later this year. In the meantime, UK listeners have been made aware of one song as part of the groundbreaking compilation, "We Are All Circling the Stars" (Cosmos Recordings, Feb ’08).

Raised on the green and rocky coast of Brittany, France, Hélène Renaut now claims another coast, that of San Francisco, home. As the leader of the group Beam, she recorded a self-titled album, released on Antenna Farm Records in 2003. She has also collaborated to quite a few varied projects: violin and string arrangement for folk-pop duo Willow Willow (Mod Lang Records) and Papercuts (Gnomonsong), piano, violin and vocals on Donovan Quinn’s latest opus (Soft Abuse), vocal appearance on soul indie funk act Honeycut’s ‘The day I Turned to Glass’ (Quannum), original music for theater productions of ‘The False Servant’ (Marivaux) and ‘The Green Bird’ (Carlo Gozzi), and others.
