My latest read is "Deadliest Catch: Desperate Hours"
Heroes
The every day people who fly in under the radar of recognition. Day after day they wake up, suit up, and perform their daily tasks to the best of their ability. They care for children, elderly, animals, and homeless. They do what they have to do or what they feel they should do to help others. Much too often they go unnoticed.
About me: When I was young I thought 30 was old. I used to think the ultimate failure would be to live alone with cats and to have white hair. Actually I cheated because my hair is bleached almost white and I'm cultivating a crop of dreadlocks... Guess what? It ain't bad at all. Thirty has come and long since gone as have many relationships. I am fine enjoying my own company until the right person comes along.
Then there are my friends. I'm truly blessed to have some wonderful people in my life. We spend special time together and go where the music takes us.
Who I'd like to meet: People who would like to establish new friendships. For years I've corresponded with people all over the world. I actually feel closer to some of them than most of my family. We, after all, get the family we get, but we can choose people to consider true friends. I've traveled to Israel to visit my friend Al after he emigrated to Jerusalem for religeous study. Because of him I floated in the Dead Sea, visited Masada, and looked out over Bethlehem. Constant emails and gifts back and forth inspired me to go to Republic of Georgia and meet Ketevan and her family in the capital city of Tbilisi. Chatting with my friends in England was the catalyst for an all too short trip to meet Mark in Bristol England and Sue near Leeds just a couple hours away. John MacBain in Inverness Scotland drove me around Loch Ness in search of the elusive "Nessie". Last, but certainly not least, Seamas O'Labradah, a bagpipe player I'd met when he visited Seattle was a perfect host to John MacBain and I when we flew to Belfast for a long weekend to visit. I'd like to meet more people of this calibur. There are still so very many of them left in this world... A few years ago a retired couple I befriended flew from West Virginia to spend a week visiting with me when I lived in Kona Hawaii.
