Hello hello......

Many a fine gig to be attended dear folks.

AWESOME COLOR - this Thursday - but you already know about this one. I bet my David Hasslehoff-signed speedos on this gig being the one to make you scream....

Yet there be more....

Wednesday 25th June, 8pm, £5/£4 flyer/NUS

Apollo 15 & Giddy Equations presents Lady Fortune + Just Handshakes + The Locals + You Are The Proles

In "The Prince", Machiavelli says Lady Fortune only rules one half of a mans fate, the other half being his own will. By the end of the show I'd bet all will. With art-rock and indie-punk bases all covered by this hugely talented band that takes influence from The Strokes via Belle and Sebastian they quickly began support slots with the likes of The Pigeon Detectives, The Young Knives and The Paddingtons.

Thursday 26th June, 8pm, £5/£4 flyer/ NUS

Apollo 15 presents Mugstar + Celebrity Love Crisis + Thrive + Jono

Sea Record’s Mugstar are the sound of 10,000 suns exploding, pulsing with repetitive beauty, pounding like a supersonic mantra. They set sail for the sun in 2002 and have completed numerous voyages with the likes of Mogwai, Melt Banana, Onieda, Acid Mothers Temple and Part Chimp. The band recorded one of the last sessions for the late great John Peel and featured in his festive 50.

Celebrity Love Crisis have emerged from the ashes of National Grid HVRP to produce progtastic metallic juicy riff filled scientifantastic bon bombs.

May 22 2008 1:31 PM

Of course! Oh you do make me laugh! Well...Erm...Um....Haven't picked up my bass for a while, it just keeps sitting there staring at my crossly and crying out to be played. Right.
I'm making a decision right now, I'm going to give it a bit of a bashing tonight- after I've soundproofed the bedroom! Have you seen anything of peethan lately? xxx

May 22 2008 11:04 AM

Aha! Yes, that was it! Russ is doing great thankies; pretty much ditched the crutches and using just a stick now! What are you up to? How's the harp going? xxx

May 21 2008 5:05 PM

Not so bad thank you, health not too brilliant at the moment but never mind! How are you? What's been happening? What was the name of that biscuit you had in Betty's? It's driving me mad not being able to remember the name of it.

Please Please You & Apollo 15 presents Silje Nes + Madam + Dallas Boner

Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Silje Nes is strictly one of a kind. Forget the inevitable comparisons with people like Joanna Newsom or Nina Nastasia; Nes is one of those unique musicians whose idea of creativity doesn't merely stop with the closing of one piece of music, but instead looks for other avenues: to either expand on what she's achieved so far or go one better with the next. Although a classically trained pianist, Nes’ talents stretch far beyond tinkling a few ivories – from simple acoustic guitar arrangements to more complex electronic adjustments – while her idea of percussive beats range from anything like a drum or xylophone to hitting glass bottles or toy robots beating kick drums.

As a focal part of a growing scene for solo avant-garde electronic artists currently emerging from Scandinavia - Laura Naukkarinen and Merja Kokkonen are just two other names to look out for - Silje Nes is unashamedly paving the way for other bedroom artists to escape their own four walls for a wider audience.

Saturday 19th April 8.00pm

Apollo 15 presents Mossyrock + Broken Belles + Edwina Hayes + Ellen

Experimental combo Mossyrock from Brooklyn blend electronic and folk pop. Their rich, ethereal melodies are like the greatest daydream you never had. Broken Belles’s lyrical and musical influences stretch far and wide, their sound combines fluid acoustic and languid harmonies to a beautifully uplifting effect. Hello Miss Penny!
I hope you are well.
I am poorly, but I'm sure wellness is just round the corner so that's ok.
People still keep saying "oooh I like you're pictures! Where did you get them from?" I tell them I got them from a very nice lady in York called Helen aka Miss Penny, you should check out her myspace page, etc. And they go ooo very good, I will. And that's the end of that story. I'm going to sleep now before I become too silly.
Hope life is good and the harp is singing beautifully,
Wx

Hey well done winning the vouchers, that's pretty cool.

I've just a-membered that at some point tomorrow Ryan and I are being interviewed by BBC North, something to do with Teresa and hum-drum and our little film, could be exciting!

Not sure when that it but yeah, tea and cake and Two Socks, I mean Ellers, would be grand.

I'm about to watch my film on a dvd my computer's spent all day making. If it worked, I'm sending it to some dude at head office this weekend so he can watch it and pick a date for the premiere... heeeeeee!

Wasn't Laura hilarious last night dancing to Starship - such enthusiasm for such a bonkers song!
