-- dead man's rope (sting)
-- hazy shade of winter (simon 'n the funkelman)
-- trouble (coldplay)
-- blower's daughter (damien rice)

-- i can see clearly now (johnny nash, tho i think i like the jimmy cliff cover better)
-- anything created by the musical (and lyrical, and maybe metaphysical, and definitely gastronomical) genius that is Miró and the Transmitter
Movies
i do not like sentimental crap. if you take me to a movie that is designed to make people cry and/or believe in true love, i will hurt you. but i do like:
-- clever/quirky comedies (like Best in Show, The Princess Bride or Clue)
-- fun, well-crafted adventure flicks (like the last Indy Jones)
-- quality actionish brain-twisting drama stuff (like The Game or Fight Club)
-- awesome all-out dramas (like Glory)
-- stuff that's cool to see on a huge screen at a painfully high volume (like X-Men 2 or the Lordses of the Ringseses)
Television
i just watch what my DVR tells me to watch. at the moment, that means: Battlestar Galactica, The Daily Show and Colbert's show, The Office (US version), Family Guy, Scrubs, My Name Is Earl, 30 Rock, Stargate Atlantis, How I Met Your Mother and Chuck.
shows i miss: The West Wing (the Sorkin years), Arrested Development, Andy Richter Controls the Universe, Futurama (the shows on Comedy Central don't count as new), Strangers With Candy. Whose Line Is It Anyway reruns can cheer me up no matter how horrible a mood i'm in. and i can never forget MST3K: crow t. robot, you will always hold a special place in my heart.

About me:
-- even though i always say "thank you" when a cashier gives me change, it still feels weird when they say "you're welcome." i'm welcome? i just bought something from you, and *i'm* welcome?
-- i don't understand how people maintain more than one social networking presence at a time. even if the extra ones are kinda lame, like linkedin. no offense to linkedin, of course. i use it. i swear by it. it's my life. but it doesn't have scrabulous.
-- what's your instinctive reaction to the idea of using soap instead of shampoo in a pinch? yeah. me too.
Who I'd like to meet: the person who can tell me how to get rid of the "Who I'd like to meet" section.
So Ryan got promoted to Corporate. Where he is a little fish in a big pond. Whereas back here in Scranton, I am still top dog in a fairly large pond. So who is the real boss? The dog or a fish?
From a New Yorker review of a book about the fall of network TV:
When it comes to metaphors, the author tends to channel-surf. He writes, "Now fingers were being pointed at Zucker for milking old NBC hits for every drop of ratings juice left in them." ABC "had the feel - and maybe the smell - of the chronically snakebitten." Maybe the smell. And at CBS "there were nits in the bowl of cherries." Yuck.
1. I'm pretty sure that open-faced sandwiches DO have two pieces of bread. Who is serving them without the second piece?? You're getting gipped my friend.
2. I happen to have just purchased the mint mojito orbit gum. It's not the best thing in the world, but it definitely differs from the other mint flavors. Personally, I prefer the bubblemint. Minty, yet fun.
3. Honestly. If you can't tell the difference between a blueberry and a chocolate chip....
...so were there different types of Simpsons cats to choose from? Or did you just luck out because the Simpsons' family cat just happens to look eerily like Cleo?
I actually had to meet with a recruiter downtown this morning. So, I left my house at 9 AM. I met Sarah for lunch and just now got home. I am really exhausted and think that I'm going to take a nap.
I agree that it was a most excellent weekend. I'm glad that you finally made good on your threat to come to Chicago.
I agree. In fact, I am too old to do much of anything anymore. When the heck did that happen? And who is the weird guy with the pussycat next to him? Dad
What kind of establishment would serve an open-faced sandwich with only one slice of bread? I don't know where you've been eating, my friend, but in Brooklyn, an open-faced sandwich has two slices over which the meat is evenly dispersed. What the hell are they doing in Manhattan?!
