Hailing from Southwest Detroit where most of the members still live, this band takes its roots from the hard hitting sound of the eighties and blends it with the alternative sounds of today. Although Helicon is a band with a rich heritage they have adopted a "Can Do" attitude for the here and now. After a lengthy rest the boys have returned and are sticking to their motto that "It's gonna fly if they have to pick it up and throw it in the air". Not to say that their old material hasn't stood the test of time. They just want their fans to know that their new material is what they will be concentrating on. A new vitality has been found and the momentum has been incredible. In there first two and a half years back together they have shared the stage with Candlebox, Saving Able, LA Guns and the incomparable Derek St.Holmes. They have also completed 2 CDs and have played almost every major stage on greater Detroit's west side. This includes the Metro Music Expo where they placed second among 81 bands for the title of Detroit's Best Rock Band. In the fall of 2008 the band toured the south playing in Ohio, Kentucky, and Tennessee as well as scoring air play on several stations. Another tour is in the planning stages as well as trips to shop their up coming CD, which is presently in pre-production. As the ball (or should we say rock) begins to roll it is sweeping up everything in its path. As they complete their new CD many of the songs will be featured here. This site is intended to reach out and make Helicon's sound available to as many of you as possible. Information on CD sales (including "Outside Lookin' In", "Kick It", and the bands new CD) will be posted on this site when it becomes available and upcoming shows will be posted here as well. Hell Yeah, love the tunes, and even tho I keep it local, when I heard Jackson Prison, had to put it on my playlist. See that's why we love Detroit, you guys rock, I hear some punk in there too, come on down to Nashville! This comes from a woman who grew up on Cash, has a tat of Cash, and went to jail, wearing my Cash finger flicking t-shirt. So to cover something of his, and make it that good, now that's talent!
