Heliocentric formed in 2005 as an exploration of creativity. In the past two years, the group's sound has become firmly grounded in innovative song structures, sincere lyrics, and sweeping melodies.
Hillary from Mercurial Sound (http://mercurialsound.com) said this:
"[Heliocentric] was, by far, the best band of the evening. Think mathrock with engulfing layers of large haunting sound. They are a cross between Juno, Mogwai, and Minus the Bear. . . . The lead singer/guitarist even busted out a violin bow and played his guitar with it during a few songs. This band is one to watch for."
Other recent comparisons include Isis and Explosions in the Sky.
