Starting up way back in July 2009, Hellcat Molly are bursting onto the rock and metal scene with their trouser-filling mastery of good-time heavy metal. The band formed around the simple idea that metal music could once more be a celebration of sex, drugs and rock n' roll without being cheesey or retro. While the influence of many giants of 80s stadium bands can clearly be heard running through the bands truly world-class compositions, this is not a tongue-in-cheek tribute act - it's a reflection of the real lives of the bands members. All the lyrics are based in truth, all the riffs are from the heart and all the solos are making God himself jealous.
The band has currently recorded a 5 track demo and is close to finishing pre-production on the eagerly awaited debut CD that will be available towards the start of 2010 from iTunes and all good retailers. The album promises to contain the biggest hooks, catchiest riffs and most tendonitis-inducing soloing ever released and will be produced by legend of the London metal scene Martin Goulding.
However, it's as a live band that Hellcat Molly really thrives. A motley collection of outrageous trousers, questionable footwear and assorted haircuts all blends together into something that far excedes the sum of it's sickeningly good individual components. There are rumors of a full national tour upon the release of the album - watch this space!
Members
David D'andrade - The bastard child of Rob Halford and Chris Cornell, this piss-takingly amazing frontman comes straight from the countrys capital of heavy metal, Birmingham. He has so much charisma it hurts, an intimidatingly powerful voice and an annoying ability to also play fantastic guitar solos - human beings are not meant to be this talented.
Levi Clay - The mastermind and chief songwriter of the band, Levi is also a face-melting shredder with the chops of a demon! An endorser of both Suhr guitars and Cornford amplification, this guy also has a great ear for melody, a suprisingly good voice and organisational and motivational skills essential for getting the band moving. If only he didn't like Inme!
Doug Cartwright - Described by producer Martin Goulding as 'the angel of metal death', Doug refused to sing backing vocals on the grounds that it would get in the way of his shredding! A huge collection of classic metal guitars and a disgusting amp set-up is only eclipsed by his ridiculous improvised solos - this man is normally to be found happily applying sweep arpeggios of doom to anything that moves.
Will Cass - Will is so good on guitar, he was told to play bass because otherwise it just isn't fair. Will didn't care, deciding that as he only had four strings to worry about he could focus the rest of his attention on singing perfect backing vocals and posing like the God he is.
Huw Beynon - This rhythmic monster joined the band after Levi watched him be too metal for a blues band and decided he'd be better off in Hellcat Molly. He learnt the entire set only 3 hours before his audition and yet was unanimously voted in on the power of his drumming and his naturally steady groove. A week later he had stick endorsement and played even better.
Now thanks to RJ of AESTHETICA you can take Molly back to your profile with you! Fly the flag!
