We have many fond memories of bands' members....We love them all!!
Influences
Too many to individually mention but as we began at the Hellfire Club; Orange Juice, Aztec Camera, Joseph K, & Crass were big influences. Outside musical influences were of course Joy Division, Gang of Four, Siouxsie, Penetration, Chelsea, The Clash & The Brotherhood of Man. Historically Elvis, Beatles & The Rolling Stones were influencial, as were Edith Piaf, Billy Holliday, & John Coltrane. However the biggest three musical influences on Hellfire were, & still are, John Lydon, Bob Marley, & Abba!!
Non musical people of importance, and who command massive respect include John Pilger, Marilyn Monroe, Nelson Mandela, George Woodcock, Karl Marx, John Cleese & Albert Tatlock.
There are of Course many more influences on our lives but hopefully this gives a flavour of who we are & what we are about & makes you want to be our friends!! If not then bye bye forever!!
Sounds Like
Something you wished you had & you have always wanted!!
This small Glasgow label began in late 1980 to promote the fantastic Perfect End & their debut single Sweet Dreams. The label carried on through the early to mid-eighties with releases from Silent Command. After a 15 year slumber the label began promoting The Zimmers. With a couple of promotional releases & postumous Perfect End & Silent Command albums the label has now gained a new lease of life & hopefully will continue to release fabulous sounds along with it's sister label, Framingo records. For the first Nerve release of 2009, we're very proud to present the debut EP from Copenhagen's Jean Doe.
It's drum n bass tinged with detroit techno and deep house, from the glitchy beats of the title track to deep rolling vibes on "Nuance" and "Fibre" before fellow Copenhagen based producer Pyro joins him for the epic and uplifting "Ambitions in A Minor".
Hi. Just letting you know I'm back in the studio recording the next two albums. Details on the Max X Blogs. I won't be able to answer many myspace messages for the next few months, so please be patient with me.
Things have been going great! With the help of some internet radio play the site is up to 10,000 Fans! Yay! Shooting to release new stuff at the beginning of the 2009. Hope you're well. - Max X
Just a reminder that The Filth And The Fury (Sex Pistols Tribute) will be causing their own bit of anarchy at Pivo Pivo, Waterloo St, Glasgow this Saturday 12th August with Hateful, The Red Eyes, Shoot The Messengers and Paperplanes. All for a fiver.
London Cowboys - "Relapse" - Sept 3rd, Jungle Records
Junk in the Trunk... Steve Dior literally went through his old trunk and discovered some gems, on cassette, vinyl and 1/2" masters, along with a bevy of photos from our touring days. A quick call to Alan Hauser at Jungle Records and a mere 10 months later we have the definitive London Cowboys CD... and it's a double. The first disc is the "best of" from our earlier releases, which includes and opens with "Dance Crazy" a track that was only ever on vinyl; and ends with The Idols single, which likewise has not been heard since the invention of the wheel... 15 tracks in all. The second disc is a real gem, a complete CD of unreleased material, it opens with the studio version of "Hollywood" and includes Jerry Nolan's "Countdown Love" and two of our first demos for Track Records. So we have a really comprehensive Cowboys CD, very representative of the band in it's many forms... that includes all of our more well known collaborators... Jerry Nolan, Killer Kane, Glen Matlock, Gerry Laffy, Johhny Thunders, Terry Chimes, Mike Monroe, Tony James, Sylvain, etc... some great rocking tracks, and if you were ever a fan of the band or the music, it's a must-have.... take it from me..... I was there..... I think.... Barry Jones
