The Cure, Sonic Youth, ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, Placebo, Deftones, Radiohead; the weather, Romanticism, cynicism, girls, David Shrigley, society... usual shite, but the Deluxe Edition.
Sounds Like
My Vitriol, A Perfect Circle, Idlewild, Nine Black Alps, Death Cab For Cutie on coke, with lyrics edited by Arab Strap. A man with a rubbish ghetto blaster running in a cupboard with the lights off. You tell me.
You've only got yourself to blame.
From the glens and the lochsides, you could have sought us out; perhaps in some way preventing us from ever meeting. But you didn't. You sat around, drinking mescal and dreaming of the 'better days'.
As it happened, the isolation of the Scottish Highlands soon proved catalystic. The best way to avoid getting sucked into small-town life was to set about creating a soundtrack to the wider surroundings. Grandeur and beauty make infinitely more palatable subjects than lager and fighting.
Tired of life in the sticks, Carson soon relocated to Glasgow to continue to chart their journey of Youth's Disintegration.
Drawing influence from bands such as Sonic Youth, Placebo, The Cure and Nirvana (naturally), Carson combine this with the encouraging surge in truly great Scottish music from the likes of Mogwai, Biffy Clyro and Idlewild, spinning it off down their own declivity.
"What the hell does that sound like?"
Post-grunge classic rock in a Wee Scottish Box; a melancholic schism on the underbelly of the perfect Tool.... go figure.
Amongst all this bloody mess, Carson have also found the time to play support to Killing Joke, Biffy Clyro, and Terra Diablo, at different ends of the country with all sorts in between. 2003's T in the Park appearance saw a packed-out tent for Carson's set, which was up against The Darkness and Longview. Make of that what you will......
Have noise, will baffle.
