– Hester Carvalho, NRC
"We love Charlie!"

"She possesses that X-factor."

"One of the Netherlands' most talented and special musicians."

There might be a lot of possible answers to this question, but only one of them will be right: Charlie Dée is... Charlie Dée. This unique lady from Rotterdam represents a wonderful set of songs reflecting her vision on
life and love. Charlie Dée is a songwriter with a story and a remarkable and characteristic voice.
The 2006 release of her debut-album "Where do girls come from" immediately brought on a wave of interviews and raving reviews comparing her to big names like Joni Mitchell, Rickie Lee Jones and Carol King. Using her sharp lyrics Charlie painted a melancholic, optimistic and honest picture on a warm, personal and musically wide-ranging album. Together with Martijn van Agt (guitars), Chris Grem (bass), Johan Hendrikse (Keys) and Joeri Rook(drums) she conquered many a stage including the legendary Paradiso (Amsterdam), Lowlands festival and (supporting LIVE) Ahoy (Rotterdam). On top of it all she was rewarded with the Essent Award 2006.
No reason though to sit back and relax. Hardly 18 months passed since her first album and well, there it is! The eagerly anticipated follow-up "Love Your Life" is a surprisingly powerful album. It might even lead people to conclude that Charlie has slowly grown out of the singer-songwriter mold. Apparently, the numerous live-shows of the past year have left their traces on the songstress' writing. Whoever saw Charlie perform live once will know she knows how to rock and she truly does set this side of herself free on the new record. With her impressive group backing her, Charlie invites the public to hear and feel who she is. "Love Your Life" is an alluring, tough, exiting and liberating album. She still does touching too though. With her big Rotterdam heart still pounding in her slender chest, Charlie will give herself to her audience without holding back.
"Love your life" is the leading thread in the turbulent life of Charlie Dée. On "Where do girls come from" she already sang: "This is what life is, some people lose. But I always knew I had to give it a better try". This time again she chooses hope. Charlie rocks and moves like never before.

Charlie, je hebt het geweldig gedaan vanavond! Zowel solo, als samen met A Balladeer. Het solo-gedeelt had langer mogen duren, maar dat haal ik vast nog een keer in tijdens je theatertour :)
