Influences
Everything that will make you bop, smile and finger-dance your way through an evening of joyous proportions. Whether it's indie you can enthusiastically shuffle to, electro you can (properly) dance to or rhythms you can enjoy with loose limbs, it all forms part of the Housewives pie.
Washing dishes is tedious so we formed a band.
But just who are those mysterious Housewives? Well, that's a question more than ably answered in an interview with the lovely Cat on the Wall. We suggest you read it for maximum thrills and whatnot!
HURRAH: Our second single 'Cream' is out on October 27 on Filthy Little Angels!
THRICE HURRAH: Our next release is 2point4, a 'cheerfully illicit romp' says Tom Robinson (6Radio). It'll be a shiney, new recording and a suitably smutty video. Out soon...
Here's what people have said about it so far:
"‘Cream’ has more hooks than a butcher’s shop window..." Artrocker.com (Read the full review)
"‘Cream’ is a ramshackle pop riot that could make even a cripple dance, mixing elements of a million different musical genres into one four minute slice of party perfection... Lyrically dirty and musically adventurous, The Housewives are full of backstreet charm and lo-fi fun – a winning combination, I’m sure you’ll agree." Neon Buzz (Read full review)
"Strange but utterly compelling." Manchester Music (Read full review)
"Playful new wave with stranded guitar lines and some sumptuous “ooh’s” keeping it surging onwards - TH are unlike most right now, and certainly leave an indelible impression in your sub conscious, defo worth a curious listen!" Subba-Cultcha (That's the full review, but it lives here...)
"This band sure know how to write guitar hooks that sticks in your head. Since listening to this track about six or seven times for this review, I’ve had it bounding back and forth in my mind non-stop so thanks for that guys!" Room Thirteen (Read the full review here)
"Their refusal to follow current trends and the decision to arrange the furniture they way they want to, not how fashion dictates they should, makes this a welcome addition to any self respecting collection. Better than sitting on the tumble drier for thrills!" Peppermint Iguana webzine

"The Housewives got together late in 2006 to make hip-swerving dancefloor indie. They like geometric haircuts, very lo-fi pop music and have played with
Young Knives and Belle and Sebastian. As you’d expect they make very good songs too – twisted stylophone vignettes." FUSE mag
"Multi-tasking is not a phrase usually associated with music, yet these very capable and talented bunch of folk seem to flit through different styles with relative ease. We have garagey organs, punk-funk, indie-rock and art-pop all scattered about on this 3 track single. I think we'll be hearing a lot more from these guys for sure." Jumbo Records
"Cracking trio here - lead single Getaway is fun, B-side Art School Project (our fave) has a touch of the Les Inc in its ska-touched pop groove. Will irritate some cynical sods but its winning plenty of love here with its lo-fi appeal and naff keyboards." Pure Groove
""Getaway" [is] a riotous combination of punk, house and guitar pop made to make you bounce around doing the backwards boggle. "Getaway" is backed with "Art School Project", an indie-baiting jaunt about girls, art and homemade smut, and "Shoreditch Vampires", which combines big grooves with a tale of dirty East London parties and the women who love them. Piccadilly Records
