    ..Rockin' Pony.. is an electronic duo consisting of Michael Drumz and Sasha Rozet, founded in summer of 1998 in Israel. At that time Michael and Sasha were also members of a highly provocative hardcore/metal band ..Ausweis.., playing drums and keyboards respectively. Michael, having graduated from ..Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music & Dance.. as a percussionist, was performing professionally with various orchestras. He was also involved with other independent musical projects playing drums, but wanted to experiment with instrumental electronic music (especially when he discovered such artists as ..Goldie.. and ..Red Snapper..). Sasha’s musical background is rather different; being a fan of electronica and music hardware, he was really enthusiastic about sampling/synthesis and was performing as a DJ occasionally. The first experiments started in 1996 with a purchase of synthesizer and sampler. .... The style of ..Rockin’ Pony.. music is a mixture of electronica and easy listening, with a touch of jazz elements and classical influence - ultimately, fusion. All compositions are based on (unrevealed) story lines which give the music a rich narrative structure, with a strong emphasis on melodies and harmony, rhythm and style changes, and a positive mood with a particular, fine humour. .... The debut album ..Hello.. came out in 2002 on German electronica label ..Lux Nigra.. having received a very good response from press and electronica fans. The music has been compared to bands like ..Plaid, Squarepusher, Plone... Other releases include self-released promo 7” vinyl and numerous tracks on various compilations around the world. .... ..Rockin' Pony.. enjoy playing live and have successfully done so in clubs around Europe. The duo are stationed individually in London (via Russia) and Israel, yet still manage to combine their skills together to make one of the best examples of abstract electronica ever created... 'Hello' is their debut full-length release, but judging by the immense depth and quality of the music here, you'd suspect they would've had much more experience than they really have... Their music flows with such elegance, not one beat, sound or tone is out of place. Songs evolve and grow organically, ebbing and flowing with such an adept technique, like 'Tookies', which begins with an almost Boards Of Canada-like ambience, albeit with busier rhythmic touches. Slowly the patterns grow, the harmonies start gaining ground and take on an abstract structure and before long a song that started by tugging the heartstrings is by the end getting your body moving with it's chunky 80s bass-stabs and aggressive rhythm... This is one of many examples of Rockin Pony's mastering of structure and harmony. From the Plone-like busy playfulness of 'Lullaby' to the far-east tinged electro-opulence of the album's title track, 'Hello' is a true undisputed benchmark, an unrecognised classic that has every possible element you could ever desire. .. ..
