The hepatitis C virus (HCV) is the most common blood-borne virus in the United States -- many times more widespread than HIV/AIDS.
HCV can silently damage the liver over decades, often without obvious symptoms until the liver is damaged beyond the window of opportunity for treatment.
Deaths from hepatitis C are expected to triple in the next 5-10 years, and most people don't yet know they're infected!
