H.E.L.P.P Stands for Handicapped Evaluators Limited Public Places. Our goal is to point out accessabilty problems in public places! We are here to help get more people involed, This will get us started! As you notice on the profile page, there are 2 clocks, and a map! This is to remind every one, that the time to act is now, and that no matter where you are in the world, there is an accessability problem somewhere! For every second that passes by, (times 2) some handicapped person is having a problem because because the facility he/she is trying to access is either, not sufficient enough, or is totally insufficient to accomodate for their needs! We are here as a group of concerned individuals, (mostly handicapped ourselves) to address and hopefully meet those needs, and to request change! Don't get me wrong, I am happy with recent changes in laws, and progress has been made in handicapped access, but this is from a handicapped persons perspective, and not some lawmakers perspective! I just wanted to make that perfectly clear! Thank You for joining, and lets get busy, because by working together we can accomplish more! I am here to H.E.L.P.P !! ~Shawn~

This is My Comment about Shawn! Shawn is MY HERO! Just a little insight into Shawn from my perspective! He is one of the most independent, and strong willed people that I have ever known! He lets nothing get in his way! He plays Wheelchair basketall, Will help any friend in need if he has the means to do so, and travels the U.S. extensively!
He has probably driven more miles in his van than I have in a semi truck! LOL He is a knight in shining armor! A true SirLionHeart! with the heart of a Lion, and his wheelchair as his suit of armor, he is always ready to conquer anything that stands before him! A TRUE HERO IN MY BOOK!!! ~Dave~

MISSION STATEMENT
The goal of HANDICAPPED EVALUATORS LIMITED PUBLIC PLACES(H.E.L.P.P.) is to access public places to determine whether they are user friendly to disabled people. The H.E.L.P.P. evaluations will target public spaces through a worldwide network of volunteers. Accessibility assessments for individuals confined to a wheelchair, those using crutches or walkers, all other disabilities including people that just have a hard time getting around will then be made available at the H.E.L.P.P. website which will be handicapped accessible. Posting evaluations on the internet for instance, will allow disabled people to know what problems they may encounter when going to a local restaurant or while traveling to a new city.
Through the site, people will find recommendations for places that are particularly user friendly. They will also be warned of problems they may encounter when there is a place in which they are interested in visiting or an event they want to attend. Another benefit is that the available information can be used to encourage business owners to make the place more accessible and thoughtful for disabled users. This will be an informative network. It will be one that is shared by disabled users as well as their friends and family members to make informed decisions about how to spend time together. It will also help them determine how they will spend their money. Ultimately, the information will be useful in changing patterns that discourage disabled users. It may even encourage passing new laws and ordinances or enforcement of existing regulations to accommodate people who already have it hard enough.
