About me:
Hello there, You may not know me, but you may know someone that is in my families position in life right now. My family and I aren’t the type to go begging for money. We’re very proud people and very generous ourselves, but recently we have fallen onto some hard times in the past year or so. So please, hear me out about what has happened to us so far…
My father, a very respectable man had his own small trucking business for a good five years after hurting his back in a forklift accident from his previous job. Stricken with pain due to three bulging disks in his back he continued to work as we struggled in California to make ends meet. My mother, also stricken with pain in the lower back and both knees tried desperately to work in a dentist office. She was mainly the cleaning lady who cleaned the office and sterilized the instruments and so forth. Both worked hard at what they did just to make ends meet.
During those years I came home from school and watched my sister while my parents were busy. Life seemed okay but it wasn’t. Bills kept on piling up and they would refinance the house just to pay them off. It was a vicious cycle and there wasn’t anything I could do. So This would go on until about Feb of 2004, when my mom was released from her job and so we had to rely on my father and the company, however in a month’s time something else would happen. Our house caught fire destroying half of the inside of the building. My parents, sister, and I lost almost everything in the fire, our clothes, toys, one of our pets, and some precious possessions that were passed down from the family. We lived in an apartment for eight months until they fixed house. It was the start of my junior year in high school when we were able to go back to the house, but we were faced with even more of a struggle.
My dads business started to slump and in the result money was even tighter. We began selling our antiques and other possessions to try and make the bills and not fall under yet again. We couldn’t refinance because of the fire and the house insurance providers cut the insurance from us before we were able to replace all our necessities. Because of this we were faced to buy beds, and other furniture out of our own pocket money which left us in even more of a strain.. A year goes by and we still struggled, but as I entered my senior year everything got worse. The truck broke down numerous times and took up a lot of my dads earnings just to get if fixed. It was like one thing after another. The axel breaking twice, a hose for the engine bursting, or the whole engine it’s self stalling.
Around Jan 2006 the company my father had a contract with, cut his earnings because it was losing business. Which put even more of a strain on us. As my father fought to keep his company and us going under and my mother began making plans on selling the house we had for over 32 years. In April my father finally gave up and sold his truck. It was enough to by groceries and pay utilities but not enough to keep the house. May rolled around and we didn’t pay the mortgage, June came along and so did my graduation and we didn’t pay the mortgage.
We sold the house and on July 1st we left for Tennessee, leaving the only place we knew and thinking we would have a fresh start but it didn’t happen. After being here for almost ten months now we are once again on the verge of losing this house. Now 18, I hold down a full time job instead of going to school. My father is on the night shift at a gas station, which his killing him even more. With no medical he can’t get pain medication and recently been told he might have cancer from an emergency physician when he went in because the pain was to so much he couldn‘t stand. He works 45-50 hours a week at a measly 6.25.
My mother is working at a McDonalds and at a bank full time. And I take care of my sister when I can… but yet with all of us working and busting our asses we still can’t seem to get up on our feet.
Our Phone has already been cut off, were two months behind on our mortgage, and they are soon going to be cutting off our electricity. No one in out family will help us and we can’t take out any more loans. We even tried taking a loan out on our one car, which we can’t even make payments on now. I'm hoping, praying that I can post this before the power is turned off and that maybe someone will be generous enough to give us just a bit of help.
I’m not asking for much. Five, ten, even twenty dollars. Just something to help us. Please. I don’t want my sister to be living on the streets or to be taken away from us. I don’t want to see my parents die because they can’t afford there diabetes medicine or because my father can’t afford to get cancer treatments if he does have it. If you had a heart, please help us… I don’t like begging and I apologize for me doing this, but I thank the people who can help. This isn’t fraud but a cry for help from a family who needs it.
***UPDATE*** (May 29, 2007)
As of right now we only have three days left in this house before the mortgage company throws us out. We were lucky to keep the utilities going and our bellies full, but a new problem has awoken. My mother had quit both her jobs in the hope that she would find a better one, or even start planning on selling the house back when I first started writing on this page, but with no luck. We have however made up our minds and are going back to California - Yet we have no home to call our own, and not enough money to rent a moving truck for the stuff we didn't sell in the passing weeks since then ( which we lived on and used to pay the loan on the car with). My father has lost his job just a few weeks ago, after tripping on a platform at his work and hurting his leg. I had kept my job up until two days ago as in hoping I would bring in enough money so we could move out to California once again, but with no luck.
As of right now, my plead is for just enough money to get a moving truck, and enough gas money to get back to California. Also, if anyone knows of a orginzation out in California that will help my family get a house that would be great. You can contact me with the info either through here or through my email address ( AlyDYoung@yahoo.com ).
We have one house in mind up near Eureka, CA - But we don't have a down payment or jobs to get it. If anyone can help. I promise I'll pay you back some how, some way.... just... help us.
