The Hemingway Brothers Bluegrass Band is a fast moving, hard driving traditional group from western Maine that play festivals and private events all over New England. Brothers Kip and Dale Hemingway have been playing music together for well over 20 years and their tight brother harmonies are reminiscent of famous brother duos of years past. The old time sounds of Flatt and Scruggs,Jimmy Martin, and especially the Stanley brothers are the backbone of the bands material.
John Sparrow from Harrison, Maine plays a solid bass for the band and often times joins Kip for a double banjo tune which delights crowds everywhere. John has been playing bass in various bands since 1961 and was a member of The Danville Junction Boys, a very popular bluegrass band from the 1970's - 1990's.
Also a member of the original Danville Junction boys, Bruce Hobart from Mechanic Falls, Maine brings 30+ years of experience to the band. Bruce plays an excellent mandolin and has a fiddle style all his own that is very similar to the late Curly Ray Cline.
Captain Dan Burke from Freeport, Maine puts the L in lonesome with his soulful Dobro playing and adds drive to the bands sound with his old time Josh Graves instrumentals. Dan also plays a fine guitar and bass and fills in where needed on some tunes.
All five members contribute to vocals and often join together for some beautiful quartet numbers and old time gospel songs.
Together the group has a sound that will take listeners back in time 50 years and keep them coming back for more .

THANK YOU HEMINGWAY FAMILY (Kip), Ever hear of the Tough Cats, a Blue Grass group off of some Maine island? They play at my friends club in Lewiston on occasion. Would be cool, if you guys could gig with them sometime? Yeah, another Birthday? Life is getting a tad better over here on the far side of the street. Finding more consistent employment. That Pupo guy is a nut bag! You music sounds great. Been checking you out on the rare occasion that I get on myspace. Thank you for the consideration! Keep on Rockin' In The Free World! Andrew Szott, across the street!
WOW, 15 years, that really puts it in prospective. We are old. I miss you guys and wish there was just more time. Rebecca (my rebecca) and I always talk about going to Maine. Its gonna happen sooner or later. We will have to come up for one of your shows. I hope all is well and the new year brings great things for you and your family. Thanks for the birthday wish and we will be in touch. Jeremy
