The entire store is FULL of the most fashionable eco-friendly hemp, soy and bamboo clothing and accessories you have ever set your eyes upon. With cutting edge sustainable designers like Nibus Clothing, Devil May Wear, Ipath, Gravis, Mountains of the Moon, Hemp Hoodlamb, Hempy's, Hempz... I could go on and on, but you'll have to come check it out for yourself! We also have a large (growing) selection of local handmade body products, jewlery, and art. You can also find a great selection of hats, bags, hemp food and much more. So remember, 50% of the pesticides in America get dumped on our cotton crops, so come into the Hempest and take a deep breath of fresh organic clothing that will blow you away :)
Wondering how the store got started? Well I decided to shake things up, hop in my car and start driving last summer after 18 years next to NYC and 6 great years of country life and college fun in VT. Eventually I couldn't go West anymore and ended up in Bellingham. After a few months of construction, catering, working at county fairs, and other dead end jobs I decided it was time to make a big move. I like to buy natural fibers, but found no stores in Bellingham with anything worth wearing that wasn't full of chemicals, so I called up my friends in Vermont and found great support from Nibus Clothing, who then helped to get me up and running in the Northwest. Now you can find The Hempest in downtown Bellingham on Cornwall Ave between Holly and Magnolia! This town is great, and us young business owners are going to bring downtown back to life!
What more can I say? I love being optimistic and taking the hard times in stride, because face it we're all better off than most of the world. I just love life and I try not to take it for granted, and i love trying to make the people around me as happy as i am to have each day. After running the store for another year or so I'll begin my Masters study and join my friends study abroad business taking students and anyone else who wants to see the best places in the world like Tibet, China, India, Greece, Nepal, Bhutan, etc. etc. My time in those parts of the world have shaped who i am today, and I can't wait to share it with more people! After that... the sky is the limit
