Biography Henkus
On 30 April 2005 Henkus had its debut with the release of their album “People you know”. Henkus was founded in 2001 and since then they have been performing at least 150 times all over the Netherlands. They have played at several bigger festivals such as Sunsation, Njoy, TT night Assen, and the Liberation Day festival.
In 2002 Henkus received the 3FM Demo Award and they were the audience’s favourite at the “Grote Prijs van Nederland” contest.
After releasing their singles “She’s the girl” and “Misunderstanding”, which were frequently played at the clip channel The Box, the debut album made the guys’ dreams come true. The album “People you know” shows that the band consists of real all-rounders. From powerful rock to funky grooves and back to sensitive ballads again, Henkus does it all.
On stage the musicians show their diversity by on the one hand showing their professionalism while on the other hand they really like to party. They are masterminds when it comes to entertaining the crowd.
Not only the variety and the realness of the music makes a visit to Henkus’ shows worthwhile. The sensitive and subtle lyrics by singer and songwriter Jan Henk de Groot are recognisable to everyone. The professional jury at the “Grote prijs van Nederland” admired de Groot’s work: “…he can be put besides the great American songwriters”. All in all: a band to keep in mind!
