   About Henri Greindl
Born in Brussels, Henri GREINDL studied to become an engineer, informatician and studied music, too. He plays the acoustic and electric bass and all kinds of guitars, is active in many groups, in which he likes to combine South American or African roots with Western musical languages.

He played and recorded with many jazz musicians and bands from Belgium (Charles Loos, Anne Wolf, Jan De Haas, Tonio Reina, Victor da Costa, Philippe Laloy, Théo De Jong, Pierre Bernard, Daniel Stokart, Luc Van Den Bosch, Thierry Gutman, Eric Vermeulen, ...) and Brazil (Weber Iago, Léa Freire, Jõao Braga, Beto Porto, Grupo Marimbanda, Caito Marcondes, Edu Ribeiro, Zeli, Edu Helou, Marrito Corea, Beto Freire,...)

He studied arrangement and filmscoring at the Grove School of Music in Los Angeles.

He composes for film, theater and wrote arrangements for many singers and many albums.

In Belgium, he founds his own bands, CHEIRO DE CHORO, PARFUM LATIN, HENRI GREINDL’s group...

Henri GREINDL also teaches guitar and bass in various private schools.

He also organises an annual workshop of Brazilian music in Brussels, the last week of August.

His last cd, "Bela Vista" was released in march 2009 on the label Mogno Music (www.mognomusic.com). For this double cd, Henri Greindl's guitars has travelled from the sounds of European jazz to the beaches of Brazil with a stop over in laid back California. His compositions are memories of these different stylistic influences or musical ports visited. This is a collection of some fifteen tunes that have been recorded in Belgium and in the Brazilian cities of São Paulo and Fortaleza, with some of the best musicians from the local scenes.

Belgian 5tet:
Pierre Bernard: flutes
Daniel Stokart: saxes, flutes
Théo de Jong: bass
Luc Vanden Bosch: drums

Brasil (Fortaleza): Marimbanda
Heriberto (”Beto”) Porto: flute
Italo Almeida: e-piano, accordion
Miqueias dos Santos: bass
Luizinho Duarte: drums, percussion

Brasil (São Paulo):
Léa Freire: flutes
Pedro Simão: guitars
Zeli: bass
Caito Marcondes: percussion
Edu Ribeiro: drums

Special guest: Weber Iago

Henri Greindl: compositions, guitars, basses, synth, cavaquinho
