Born Hull, UK. Moved to Liverpool in 1975, where first band Yachts supported Sex Pistols in 1977 and signed to Stiff Records to record the cult new-wave classic “Suffice to Say”. Founding member of It’s Immaterial who enjoyed chart success with single 'Driving Away From Home'. Founding member & main song-writer for The Christians who in 80’s/90’s sold 3 million albums on Island Records. Last 10 years also spent producing/co-writing/+ music for film/tv/ads etc....first solo album "The Chronicles of Modern Life", originally released in Sept '08 on Stiff Records (returning to his old label after over 30 years), now re-released on Universal Records (through Island Records, another former home)...who'd'a thought it?!
My dad just borrowed my car to go to Tesco...when he came back he asked what cd was in my car...it was yours!! He really liked it, said "i could listen to that". That's the only time he's gone as far as saying that - he thinks most the stuff i listen to is good, but would never actually put their cd on! :o) x
Great to see you at Beverley!! Was a great set (was also pleased I just about managed to see the late set on the Friday too - everyone I've told about that thinks it's hilarious!).
Hello Henry! I really like the new cuts! Hope things are good in your part of the world. My CD should be done next week. Tell your friends! Be well, my friend.
Hi Hen, I totally had my brain in neutral when I was chuntering along adding some of Marcus' friends! I didn't mean to send you such an impersonal message!!
I have a new solo disc coming out in June, just a wee side project on my own label, I'll bung you a copy when they come back from the pressing plant in the nect couple of weeks...love to know what you think.
How's your good self? Keeping well I hope...we might have some good news RE a new band deal soon, which would be a superb excuse to decamp to Pop Island for some more wine-fuelled songwriting at some point this year if you're free at all :-)
This years festival is headlined by Billy Bragg (Friday), Seth Lakeman (Sunday) and Peatbog Faeries (Saturday) with many more top artists also performing incl the award winning The Demon Barbers and Henry Priestman.
