You can find us at 8 Morrison Street, Edinburgh, EH3 8BJ (opposite the Odeon Cinema and Sainsbury's, underneath the Festival Tavern).
Henry's Cellar Bar (formerly known as Henry's Jazz Cellar) is one of Edinburgh's best established live music venues with a big friendly vibe. Since our reopening last year we have tried to diversify the range of music on offer... Rock, krautrock, indie, jazz, electro, blues, alt. country, hip-hop, punk, folk, hardcore, and more experimental nights, anything goes really...
Every night of the week we're offering something different, supporting diverse local talent as well as bringing in exciting bands and artists from further in the UK, Europe, USA, and more. When we don't have bands on the stage we usually have somebody on the decks for one of our club nights.
We suggest you check our current listings / descriptions / links in the blog section to get a better idea of what's on.
We have a 3am licence and are generally open from 7.30pm until 3am at the weekend, and from 8pm until around midnight - 1am during the week, or later on occasion, there again please check our listings for full details.
Please note we do not normally arrange gigs via myspace as we get too many messages and it's impossible to keep track of what's been sent or received. If you want to get in touch please use the email address specified in the blog where our listings are. If you prefer to continue sending myspace messages it's up to you but don't be surprised if you don't get a reply...
* ISOSCELES are amazing. "Its no wonder Isoscles have been tipped as The Next Big Thing." - The Guardian.
* SPORTSDAY MEGAPHONE has been likened to Sonic Youth and getting lost in the Casio section of Toys R' Us; "This dinky, lovely bedroom pop, is indie at its very best" – The Guardian
* ENVELOPES are a French/ Swedish 5 piece. They are now touring their second, highly anticipated and critically acclaimed album 'Here Comes The Wind':
"It may be too early to crown the top release of 2008, but Envelopes already sound like strong contenders on their charming, cheeky, tune-packed second" - Uncut.
"Occasionally, a record comes along and hits you right between the sex glands. This is that record….a rubber band of skewed post-punk pop genius" – Artrocker
AMPBOX is primarily a club night; but when the chance came to have Envelopes play Scotland an exception had to be made. Don't miss them play an intimate venue with such amazing support.
don't be daft, everyone in edinburgh of any sort of musical bent will be going to Dunfermline, in's the beating heart of the underground, sort of like manchester was 10 years ago. so there humph
