Nous sommes Heonia, un groupe de Metal mélodique de la région lilloise dans le Nord de la France et dont le style est influencé par le prog, le heavy et le death...
Nous sommes 6 dans le groupe : Marieke au chant, Thomas & Cédric aux guitares (lead & rythmique), Damien aux synthés et grunts, Christophe à la basse et enfin Dereck à la batterie.
Le groupe est né en Janvier 2006 suite à la rencontre de Thomas et Marieke. Le fruit de leur travail commun sera Despair, premier morceau d'Heonia, composition aux changements de rythmiques constants et tranchants; puis the Voice, quant à elle plus linéaire et dure.
La formation s'étoffe considérablement en quelques mois à partir de Juin 2006 avec l'arrivée de Damien, Cédric et Rudy. Les différents univers musicaux de chacun apportent des touches mélodiques, sombres, et complexes aux compositions musicales.
Durant une année, le groupe va composer 7 morceaux sans notes fondamentales via la basse.
C'est en Août 2007 que le line-up va se compléter en intégrant Cléo dans le groupe. Son univers pop-rock apporte un complément harmonique rythmé et coloré vis à vis des guitares sombres.
En Novembre 2008, après avoir testé ses compositions sur scène pendant une année, le groupe sort son premier EP Simulacra qui reçoit des critiques très encourageantes.
En Juin 2009, nous nous séparons de Cléo et Christophe devient le nouveau bassiste d'Heonia fin Juin. Son style et sa technique orientés Metal Prog enrichissent les structures musicales. Le même mois, Heonia entre en studio pour l’enregistrement de son premier album Winsome Scar (sorti en Septembre 2010).
En août 2011, après le dépard de Rudy, Dereck devient le nouveau batteur du groupe. Nous travaillons, actuellement, sur de nouvelles compositions en vue d'un second album. Les influences des membres sont plutôt variées et vont de The Gathering, Nightwish, Within Temptation, à Opeth, My Dying Bride en passant par Pain Of Salvation, Windir, Dream Theater, Stream Of Passion et bien d'autres...
Ce mélange contribue à délivrer à travers Heonia un son dark, mélodique et progressif qui en fait son unicité.
Heonia est désormais soutenu par les créateurs du logiciel GUITAR PRO.
Heonia fait aussi partie du réseau Headbangclub de Lyon.

Heonia is Marieke (vocals), Thomas (lead guitar) & Cedric (rhythm guitar), Damien (keys and grunts), Christophe (bass guitar) and Dereck (drums).
The band was started in January 2006 by Thomas and Marieke, who created Heonia's first two compositions when there were just the two of them: Despair (a musical piece with constantly changing rhythms) and The Voice (more linear and strong).
From February to July 2006, the band grew with the arrival of Damien, Cédric and Rudy; and one year later with Cléo on bass guitar.
The musical universes of each new member of the band are really different and bring melodic, dark or complex touches to the latest compositions.
In November 2008, having tested their music on stage for one year, Heonia released their first EP Simulacra to encouraging reviews.
In June 2009, Cléo quit the band and Christophe became the bass player in Heonia. His style and his technique are strongly influenced by Progressive Metal and enrich the musical structures of the songs. That same month, Heonia headed for the studios to record their album Winsome Scar (out in September 2010).
In August 2011, Dereck became the new drummer in Heonia after the departure of Rudy.
The band is currently working on new compositions for a second album.
The influences of the members are varied and go from The Gathering, Nightwish, Within Temptation, to Opeth, My Dying Bride through Pain Of Salvation, Windir, Dream Theater, Stream Of Passion and many others...
Heonia has a kind of unique dark and progressive music.
We are now endorsed by the creator of the software GUITAR PRO.
Heonia is also part of the Headbangclub de Lyon association.
