Since there is no section for ART, I'm commandeering this one because I recently found a lot of info on the web about an artist I've always liked, because he's "as eclectic as you wanna be" and this sure suits me fine. Carl Chew.

About me:

I began studying natural healing at age twelve, following many lessons from my physician father who began tutoring me at age five. I started observing surgeries at age eight and often sat in on classes my father was teaching at Jefferson. As I grew older I accompanied him on rounds and attended hundreds of hours of CME classes with him.

Having a famous father is tough to live with so in my travels I became a doctor of a different color, green I suppose.

I was very fortunate to have learned from my father all that I did. The same for all my teachers, especially the aged naturopath who taught me in the late 1960s, during my Haight-Ashbury days, years before I received my BSc degree in nursing.

I worked in the health care industry for many decades and taught critical care nursing at the college level. I've been an administrator and consultant in this area for many decades as well.

In my current work I am somewhat like Hugh Laurie's character in House MD. One of my natural health students told me years ago I was like the herbal detective, so I coined the name 'Lace Ventura' after a popular movie at that time.

herbalYODA came from a dear friend who always called me the herbal gerbil and a colleague in mental health. The latter referred to me always as YODA because be told me that whenever he asked me a question I gave him five answers.

I know both medicine and natural healing. My skills are unusual in this day and age when it seems all too much based on ill-interpreted lab work and no diagnosis. People are in a quandry and aren't getting much help on the natural health side either. A lot of pundits are on this wagon, mainly to make mega-bucks and stroke their ego. They leave out the educational part. What is passed off today as natural health care is just the allopathic model with a slew of limited effect standardized products or junque.

Those who know and work with true natural healing are few and far between. I am blessed by the clients I have who find me through grace, after everything they have tried did not get them well.

Natural health care is everyone's right, as is quality of care, no matter what choice you make. It is FIRST MEDICINE.

I am a long-time activist. It is important now to stand up for your right-of-choice and work to protect it, or you may no longer enjoy it.

Education helps you keep your health and know what to do when you don't have a doctor or can't get what you need at a health store.

Knowledge is something no one can ever take away.
