Band MembersRhys Faktory - Guitar/ Vocals, Lach Faktory - Bass, Steve Faktory - Guitar, Joe Faktory- Drums
InfluencesAll our riffs are stolen from the following: The Wipers, Sonic Youth, Happy Mondays, Flipper, A Certain Ratio, The Cure, The Stone Roses, Early REM, The Fall, Northside, Pavement, My Bloody Valentine, Scratch Acid, S.C.U.M, The Big Black, Gang of Four, The Associates, Killing Joke, God, 808 State, Wire, Joy Division, Nirvana, The Psychedelic Furs, PIL, Dead Kennedys, The Organ, Black Flag & The Triffids...
Sounds LikeHER FAKTORY are a psychedelic post-punk band from the inner west of Sydney. The 4-piece make the kind of dirty groves that will expand your mind and move your hips. The bands sound is an unlikely mixture of influences such as: The Fall, My Bloody Valentine, The Happy Mondays, Die Die Die and Funkadelic. Since 2008, Her Faktory have been enthralling audiences across Sydney’s live venues including The Annandale, Hopetoun Hotel, World bar, Oxford Arts Factory and Spectrum. Her Faktory have also played Sydney's satellite cities such as Newcastle, Canberra and the Gong. They have shared stages with such act as, Cuthbert and the Night Walkers, The Black Stars and Sister Jane. Combing hypnotic groves with dirty, dark atmospheric tones, Her Faktory’s show is a truly intense and unique experience. Her Faktory first started purely as a solo recording project by founding member Rhys Clayton. These recordings consisted of Retro drum machine loops, scratchy Lo-Fi guitar riffs and reverb drenched mantra like lyrics. In order to take these chaotic creations to a live setting, Rhys had to recruit a band that shared his twisted vision. After various personnel changes, the final line up consists of, Rhys Clayton on Vocals, Lach Marsden on Bass, Steve Cool on Guitar and Joe Oconer on Drums. Rhys took the name Her Faktory from an old quote he read about “Thatcher’s England”. He felt these words projected imagery of hardship and struggle that still resonate today. The phrase, “Its Her Factory” is also the title of a B-side from the classic Post-punk band Gang Of Four. Her Faktory self released an EP featuring the singles “Money Doesn’t Matter” and “About Myself”. Both songs received solid airplay on FBi94.5FM and other community radio stations. The song “Money Doesn’t Matter” was also included in the underground rock compilation “Uploadone” (available on itunes). The video clip for the single, “Money Doesn’t Matter”, received air time on Rage, but was banned from channel 9's "Music Jungle" program. This banning was due to health risks associated with the high intensity flickering within the clip. Soon the band plan to release another EP and take their brain altering tunes to various venues across the east coast. Keep your minds open for the sound of Sydney’s Her Faktory. Peace bitchez :)
