The young group Hermanos Herrera is a family group consisting of five Herrera brothers and their younger sister. The group plays various styles of traditional Mexican music including huasteco, jarocho, and norteño. The group has played at various venues throughout the southwestern United States as well as Mexico. They have pleasantly entertained many audiences at schools, colleges, universities, and concert halls. They have received high accolades from audiences as well as music critics. They have made various musical appearances on television shows including “Despierta America.” Their most enjoyable performances have been at the Annual Encuentro de Huapangueros in Amatlán, Veracruz, Mexico where they earned the respect and admiration of a critical audience and master musicians of this musical genre. Hermanos Herrera captures with remarkable authenticity all of the musical styles
that make up these traditional styles of Mexican music. They play with remarkable composure and maturity far beyond their youthful age. They perform with an aggressive and energetic style that is both passionate and exhilarating. They remain truly authentic in their interpretation of these marvelous traditional musical genres.
The 5 eldest brothers of the group Jorge Andres, Luis Albino, Miguel Antonio, and Juan Pablo, and Jose Marcelino are all students at UCLA. Rebeca Isabel is a student at Fillmore High School. The group has recorded 5 C.D.’s under the Sonbros label; Sones Huastecos con los Hermanos Herrera, De Corazon Huasteco, Pasión Huasteca, Cruzando al Norte, and Siempre Unidos. Their newest release titled “Siempre Unidos” includes the rich sounds of the accordion and saxophone which expresses their ability to interpret yet another genre of traditional Mexican music. Their love for la canción Mexicana is evident in their newest recording which represents a crossing over from Huasteco and Jarocho music, into Norteño music.
