Born out of a failed attempt to run a record label, the four Heroes of the acropolis decided to turn their energies to making beats. A self-released 12" (the 'There Ain't No Party Like A Hero Party' EP) and plays from the likes of John Peel and Steve Lamacq (Radio 1) then lead to the release of the 7" single 'Keeping It Real?' b/w 'Besomebody' on Sheffield's 7 Hills Records. After more support from some of the world's top club djs (Coldcut, Mr Scruff, Andy Smith, Ollie Teeba, ....) and the inclusion of 'Keeping It Real?' on The Herbaliser's 'FabricLive 26' mix CD, the Heroes now return with their latest release, 'The Right Side Of The Tracks' on their own Hero Records label.
You can hear the following tracks by Hero No 7 in the player above : 'The Right Side of The Tracks' - Short snippets of 4 of the 7 tracks from the new EP. Featured tracks are 'Think of a Number', 'Roots of a Hero', 'Black Mountain' and 'The Seventh Sense' featuring Dave Bernard. Check out more of Dave's work as part of 2x10 at 2d Music.or 2x10's myspace page.
"Another scorcher by the Heroes - will be in the box for a while" - DJ Andy Smith
"If you like DJ Shadow then you'll like this" - Steve Lamacq (BBC Radio 1)
'Time Process' - A MySpace exclusive. This time an unreleased downtempo hip hop track featuring heavily chopped up drum break, deep bass, scratches and overdubbed sound effects to create an atmospheric track full of twists and turn.
'Cut Up Party Tune 101' - The lead track from the deleted 'There Ain't No Party Like A Hero Party' EP as featured on Masanori Ikeda's 'Spinout 3' mix released in Japan on V2 Records.
'Futuristics Remix' - A cheeky MySpace exclusive vocal version of an instrumental track from our 'Right Side Of The Tracks' EP, entitled 'Futuristics'
