Ashlee makes the top 12 on NBC's 'Nashville Star'!
Ashlee Hewitt, a 20-year-old from Lancaster, MN currently resides in Nashville, TN. With her dad currently in Iraq training border police, Ashlee is hoping to stay on the show for a few weeks so her dad can see her perform when he returns to the States for a short leave from overseas. One of 13 children, Ashlee grew up on a 2,500 acre horse ranch in Minnesota and is a true country girl - she's comfortable driving tractors, catching fish or riding one of her family's 70 horses. Now, Ashlee's left her family and her farm to move to Nashville in pursuit of her dream.
At the early age of five and seven, Ashlee and Katrice Hewitt loved singing together and you couldn’t tear them apart. They performed at different churches around their home town of Lancaster, Minnesota. Their dream was to become a country music duo. In the year 2001 they formed a five piece band and started playing at fairs, clubs, casinos and festivals all over Minnesota nearly every weekend.
In the spring of 2002 the Hewitt Sisters started writing songs in preparation for their third album. They continued to tour, opening for many of their role models such as Joe Nichols, Trick Pony, Billy Currington, Emerson Drive and Josh Gracin. They sang the National Anthem for the Minnesota Twins and headlined with Lee Greenwood at the FargoDome in North Dakota.
The Hewitt Sisters, Ashlee, 20 and Katrice, 22 are celebrating their 15th year of performing together as a sister duo. For the past six years they have been performing over 100 shows per year in seven different states.
