Sounds Like
The Monkees if they actually played their own instruments and wrote their own songs.
The Cut-Outs are a beat combo disguised as an indiepop supergroup. Featuring members of Airport Girl, The Fat Tulips and (on record) The Lucksmiths, they are the band that Paul & Linda and John & Yoko never had but should've. They play garage rock for pop kids with short, daft guitar solos and an unerring ear for a tune. And with a member of 60s dance troupe The Actionettes on drums, there's always at least one band member on the beat.
hello cut-outs! i just got one of those alden phantasias, it's only a six string but at least it's left-handed. so i won't have to bug you about borrowing yours :)
I thought you might be interested in a new myspace group I started called Gigswap. The group includes a list of independent promoters from around the UK.
I started the group to try to help my favourite Birmingham bands get gigs elsewhere and to try to encourage my favourite bands from elsewhere to get gigs in Birmingham. How anyone uses the group is up to them.
I called it Gigswap beacuse most small independent promoters seem reluctant to book bands from out of town that they don't know, so, perhaps, gigswapping might persuade them otherwise.
hello paul and friends, this is chris from a smile and a ribbon. really enjoyed both of the gigs we saw! you should get a record out soon. is any of paul's post-fat tulips bands here on myspace as well? i had a look for the guitar on ebay but all i could find was the teardrop copy.
Hello! We've just uploaded a track from our forthcoming album to our myspace. It's called Channel Light Vessel Automatic and we're super pleased with it!
Very much enjoyed your Nottingham set and good to chat with you, Paul, after so long. I even remembered to pass on Tonieee's "hello"!
Twas a great night all round I reckon.
i love the cut outs. obviously, sean's a miserable bastard, but virginie rocks, melissa is the psychedelic queen and paul is dream dreamy. and what f*cking CHOONS. they should be topping bills, not playing first on!
