Heyoka Soap began in 2005 with Leah Brandt, Matt Lovestone, his sister Layla Lovestone, and James Rodriguez. After a few short months of rehearsals, they began playing shows in San Antonio, and Austin soon after. However, in mid 2006 Layla left Heyoka Soap because of a falling out with Matt. She was soon replaced by Nestor Garza (of the band Yesterday's Tomorrow). In late 2006 Leah, Matt, James and Nestor began recording what was to be Heyoka Soap's debut album on the indie label "Q & R Records". However, the band ran into financial difficulties, and production came to a screeching halt. With an unfinished album and rising tensions in the band; Heyoka Soap disbanded in early 2007. Matt joined the SA based band Neglecting Toby, while James and Leah moved to Houston and Nestor formed the spanish rock band, Veloz. However as of September 2007, after a prolonged period of silence; Leah, Matt, Layla, and James are back with renewed passion and energy; and are ready to pick up were they left off.
