HEY THERE COWBOY formed in may of 2007. Lisa Ganser and Justin Cowboy were in the band Central Standard, which disbanded in late April. Justin was in the band Three For the Gallows before CS, a well known local punk band. Ganser's first band was Punky Bruiser. The two wanted to keep playing together and after posting a bulletin on myspace, a place for friends, Eric Frame (also in the band Fixed Gears are for Jerks and Lesbians) was interested in playing guitar differently from FGaFJaL, something more along the lines of his alt country, classic rock and folk background and liking (while staying in well established FGaFJaL). Zach McNulty, also of FGaFJaL, as well as C. Doty Run, the Laura Klinkerts and TOUGH TOUGH SKIN (yes, Zach is in 5 bands right now) was interested in being in a band where he could play guitar rather than drums. He had a specific sound in mind, as he heard 'melodies in his head,' that medications weren't helping - and was looking for an outlet for that, a kind of Pixies sounding intricate playing. Once we started playing together, Eric and Zach had a great rapor and took turns with chords, lead, and intricate guitar parts. We took back the night on some of the Central Standard songs, and our first original song (you can hear here), is called XOXOXO. In August of 2007 we did a Pacific NW tour and played Queeruption in Vancouver BC, Canada. We have also played a few Chicago shows, with appearances at Queer Fest Midwest and Ladyfest in 2007. After having a few guest bassists (Amy Van Patten, Stephanie Cowboy and Karen Anderson of the Pussy Pirates, respectfully) in October of 2007 we landed a permanent bassist in Antoine Cowboy (of Disateratti). Antoine rounds out the band, and since his joining the line up, our sound has matured. In the past months, after our live shows, we have been compared to The Pixies, The Gits and The Minutemen, which we find to be very flattering. We sell shirts, stickers, cds and buttons at the live shows. We have a live EP out on Anti-Civ Records (Live at the Entry), and a full length due to drop Summer 2008. Thanks for stopping by.
