    Habitat for Humanity's Interests
GeneralWe believe everyone deserves simple, descent, affordable housing. Our Mission, as an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry, is to seek and eliminate poverty housing by partnering with the community to make descent shelter a matter of conscience and action. Our affiliate was incorporated in 1988. The first family moved into a Habitat home in Mobile in August 1990. HFHMC has dedicated over 95 homes. A home currently cost $50,000 to sponsor and 175 volunteers typically spend 2500 hours working on a Habitat home. Habitat families are selected on the basis of need, willingness to partner and the ability to re-pay a no-interest mortgage. Area businesses, civic and educational organizations and congregations of various denominations have sponsored Habitat homes. The ReStore, a shop for building materials and home improvement items was opened on Highway 90 in May 2008. We accept donations when the store is open. 251-662-1121 A 15-Member Board of Directors serving three year terms govern our affiliate. We also have collegiate chapters at The University of South Alabama, and Spring Hill College. Our office is located at the Regions bank tower, Suite 910. The mailing address is: PO Box 16422; Mobile, Alabama 36616. We can be reached by email at habitatcody@yahoo.com or by telephone at 251-476-7171/Fax 251-476-7978. HFHMC is happy to accept donations of cash, new building materials and labor. By virtue of our 501(c)(3) status, donations of cash and materials are tax deductible.
