Mixing humor and energy in every performance, a Home Grown Tomatoes show is an organic music mix of life in the Midwest.
The band's goal is to leave everyone with a smile on their face, a song in their head they can't get rid of, and thinking of a fond memory of life in Iowa. Their performance is a mixture of American Gothic yearning, mid-western practicality, and stubborn romanticism mixed with humor and terminal sensibility.
Fifth generation musician and songwriter Bill Melton has played around the midwest for several years. In 2005, he teamed up with his friend, guitarist/songwriter Steffen Heins for a series of "music on the square" concerts around the Des Moines area. The chemistry between these two seasoned veterans was immediately evident and they set off to paint a musical landscape of life in Iowa.
Now the Tomatoes take their unique brand of home grown Iowa music to wherever people are ready to have a great time.

Friday July 18th, 19th and, 20th, Shantii Productions is hosting a gathering of friends, friends of friends, and friends of friends of friends. So you’re invited, invite some friends and tell your friends to invite some friends. Then we’ll all have a great time.
It’s important someone brings lots of beer and watermelons. We’ll need to eat, so bring some food. Drums, tents, tarps and other camping supplies will help a lot.
Activates should include, live music, hiking, horseback riding, fishing, tubing, survival skill expo, nature walks, environmental debates, drum circles and stories around the campfire.
We will be camping at the party bar, out side of Dallas Center. If you don’t know where that is, just ask one of you’re your friends, they should know. The spot is an easy drive to west des monies so feel free to camp as long as you want, go to town, work, whatever, and come back with more friends, Beer and watermelons.
