Higher Than Why formed in Austin, Texas circa 2004. Drums, keys, bass and quick witted, forward thinking rapping by Justice combine to form a heavy, melodic, and compelling soundscape. They are hip-hop, funk, rock and soul in equal parts. Higher Than Why took to the stages of Austin in late 2007. They quickly landed a weekly gig at Plush Bar's hip-hop night, opening for Table Manners Crew every Saturday. They played over 30 shows in 2008, including shows at The Parish, Headhunters, Ruta Maya, Room 710, Red Eyed Fly, Red Seven and Creekside Lounge, In late 2008, they decided to take a break from gigging to record their first studio effort. It will be released in Fall of 2009. With recording elements of the album complete and a reworked set, they returned to playing shows in April 2009. They intend to continue to play all their favorite Austin venues as well as tour the US alongside their album release.
