Matt Hickman - Vocals, Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Violin, Viola.
PS. I can only play so many of these instruments at once so I'm looking for anyone who wants to come and sing better than me, and play the guitar and any other stringed instrument - just send me a message...
Influences
Too many to name - from damien rice to shostakovich via muse and tower of power...
I'm 22, living in London, and just recording on my own at the moment. I mainly play violin and guitar but there's some viola in there as well... somewhere. I use a Boss RC-50 loop pedal to make life a little easier. This is just a side project from string quartets / orchestras etc but I seem to be spending more and more time on it these days! Anyway, I hope you enjoy the songs...
Hey, how's it going? I wanted to show love and let you know I got some new music up on my page (and on myspace.com/ttide) more songs will be coming in a couple days. Talk to you soon :)
nice sounds, the different instruments mix well together, and the harmonies...some amusing lyrics, "much to his chagrin"... i liked cait - is it cait? best. the vocals sound a bit murmured and possibly nasal at times and the guitar a bit florid - don't like prowess on de guitar, i'm afraid. unless it's me, fnar.... a few of the songs seem to b over 5 minutes which, to put it bluntly, is too long. ur supposed to leave people wanting to hear more, not wishing they'd heard less. not that i did that. i just stopped listenig when i got fed up. goodbye myspace friend - forever! (u wouldnt b the first person i'd offended with my comments, oh no siree...) anyway some pleasant sounds and sophisticated for ur youthful state - didnt realise u were 22, quite acomplished bein' so young...hope all this helps in some way. cheers, keith.
ta for ur comment/question - no i don't do many gigs. have played cafe drummond (aberdeen) a couple o' times in past few months and do the odd radio session.... i suppose writng songs is my main thing; everything else is a pain in the arse to an extent. having said that i am thinking of doing more gigs and more self-promotion generally. how about yourself? keith. ps-i've still to listen to, and comment on, ur stuff, so u better not b rubbish. ( i suspect you winna b.)
Hi Matt! Life is very good at the moment. I'm enjoying my teaching, and I've just heard that The Irrepressibles (www.theirrepressibles.com) want me as a permanent dep after my audition to them, so all very exciting. Would be great to see you at one of the Clockwork gigs! Rachel's definitely going too. How are things with you? x
hullo matt, ta for comments, will comment back ere long but am being miserable and tired after an early shift and can't b bothered gettin headphones from kitchen, plus i've got to go out somewhere soon. was interested by ur page, though - man with guitar but also string quartet thing. ps - did i send a friend request to u recently? i had been adding lots of people in scotland lately and was surprised when i saw u were from/in elsewhere. anyway..... cheers for the comments once again, keith in macabre aberdeen.
