HID Productions (Hidden Identity Productions) is UK Hip Hop DJ/Producer Evil Ed's record label. Founded in 2002 to release Ed's "Tournament Round 2" EP and recently resurrected with new releases.
The first 7" singles "WRITE A SONG FOR ME" by CONSPICUOUS feat. SHAMELESS and "SUNSHINE COAST" by 12 INCH MATTER were both 'SUREPLAYER' singles in DJ Mag and the third release, the debut 7" EP from HANSEL THE UNICORN has been causing a stir in the jazzier circles.

After superb 7"s from Conspicuous and 12" Matter comes the latest tablet of terror from Evil Ed's H.I.D. production stable. Let this one sit 'tween gum and lip and fizz away delightfully for half an hour, w'don'tya? Fab jazzbo opener 'That's Killing' is a minute's worth of Soft Machine-style jazz-noise fun. The title track swims in on a tide of gibbering radio static and proceeds to rip forth on a nutty sax-loop, Blurt style free-jazz analogue funk and a Burgeoning Pop Group/This Heat groove that's way more post punk than anything more skinny-tied fools are making this week. A lovely Mikhail Bulgakov nod on 'Milla and Maragita' lashes down another minute of Minutemen-worthy slamdance, before 'Rat Face Girl' twists out on the kind of perverted electro-sleaze you aint heard since Prince wore a spandex thong. 'The Situation Is This ' closes an ace EP with pure free-flowing Ornette sax over sounds straight from the Radiophonic Workshop. Big things from a small package. Love it.
