Hide & Go Hustle formed in mid 2007 with Catherine and Mike noodling around with some previously recorded songs and loops. After months and months of recording, programming, and figuring out how to play what was laid down, Hide & Go Hustle began playing shows, and released a demo shortly after. The last year has been spent recording their first proper release, which is due out in July of 09. The EP includes new versions of all the songs on the demo as well three new tracks. The EP features Jon Hopp on Trombone, and Benjamin Jaspers (Alan Singley @ The Pants Machine) playing some live percussion.
Join us for our CD Release Show on JULY 16 @ Holocene!!!
[GLORIOUS SOUNDS] Hide and Go Hustle is one lovely bustle of cello and electronic twitterings and loopage. The band’s initial four-track demo reels with packed layers of sweeping instrumentals that build and deteriorate—shimmering with contemplation and overriding optimism. A relatively new project from Spinning Wheels’ Catherine Odell and Mike Moore, the duo still has that new-car smell to it: spankingly fresh and restless to go! I foresee wondrous things for them as they make their way through a slew of Portland shows this fall. ANIKA SABIN. Willamette Week
"...so captivating and catchy that it sucks you in like a black hole. You can't hide from that shit no matter how hard you hustle. With tight, meticulous electronic loops and the expressive bellow of Odell's cello, Hide and Go Hustle seeps with soul, making the threesome one of Portland's most promising new bands. WHITNEY HAWKE. "This ain't no indie-pop. But it's not heavy metal either. Its just good music."
